1 Westbrook Rivers Clemons 2 Harden Gordon McLemore 3 House Green Blossomgame 4 Tucker Sephalosha Anderson 5 Capela Chandler Hartenstien The team I hope we go to war with as currently constructed... Already know Nene contract has to be honored.... But if u look at hopefully one playoff rotation worthy a) 3 to replace blossomgame and push Green to 3rd string spark plug b) or a 4 to replace blossomgame push Sepholsha to back down to back up 3 and fill in his current role... We’d have pretty competitive roster.
You’d think it’d be ideal seeing him simply a developmental project than a piece we’re counting on come playoff time...in a perfect world that’d be a pleasant surprise...
No. Gary Clark signed a three yr contract, last year. Remember? That's why everyone was upset that House wouldn't sign the same one.
Smh. Right right...Then needs to go on the list w nene as “flip for any usable asset”...we need upgrades and his upside isn’t high enough to justify using a roster spot for stagnant filler especially in middle of a legit championship window...this army gotta be all that it can be...ya dig?
I would bet on: capela - chandler - nene tucker - Thabo gordon - house harden - mclemore - green Westbrook - rivers - Clemons mclemore and clemons played themselves onto the roster. green and nene are guaranteed. green is on the 3rd string to start the year with his injury. nene will be given a chance to raise his salary with incentives to match what he opted out of. also to raise his tradable salary (but not by much since it will be taxed). blossomgame and Frazier end up in RGV with blossomgame on a 2 way. the last two spots come down to clark, Harty, or ryno.
I personally believe Clemons and Ponds are on 2-ways. And Anderson makes the roster as the backup C to platoon with Chandler.
Clark and Harty are under contract. So, if Ryno is in the discussion, you’ll have to discuss him with other players not under contract, Mac and Clemons. We aren’t cutting guaranteed salary. (Clark is fully guaranteed; Harty 50%, I think)
fyi these guys say clark is only 50% as well.. [Gary Clark: Only $708,426 guaranteed in 2019/20, HoopsHype has learned. Contract becomes fully guaranteed if he plays 36 games. His 2020/21 contract becomes guaranteed if not waived by August 1, 2020.] and that ryno has a $250k guarantee already... [Ryan Anderson's contract includes a $250,000, according to Alykhan Bijani. Guarantee increases to $500,000 if not waived by opening night.] https://hoopshype.com/salaries/houston_rockets/
Hoopshype is listing the 36 game incentive guarantees for last year’s play that would trigger this year’s guarantee. But, regardless, turns out I was mistaken, and so was Spotrac listing him as accomplishing his 100% trigger. Turns out the 36 games had to be played under new contract, not counting games played while 2-way in 2018. So, yes, you’re right ... Harty and Clark are 50% until regular NBA guarantee date in January.
Quick shameless plug but a good friend of mine is starting today as a new Rockets beat writer for SiNow. Give him a follow for news and updates! @mshap2
Nothing eminent but Rockets open to making a deal for rotation depth in the next week or so. Interesting because a lot of teams don't like to do that right before the season starts.
My friend that works in the organization is telling me that upper management is not totally satisfied with the depth on the roster. I believe there will be at least 1 or 2 new faces on the roster before the regular season.
3 Things that concern me after the news about Green - the 8 man rotation has a different outlook than just last week and the regular season has not even begun. - You can't have championship aspirations with Anderson and Sefolosha that are past their prime on the 10 man roster - Looks like another season with Harden and Westbrook having high usage rates. They are playing with fire on that!
