Nobody wants your sovereignty to fall apart.. we want every citizen to have a say in how they're governed. The current Chinese government will never allow the good people of China to have a say. We want China to keep Hong Kong, keep Taiwan, just get rid of your oppressive leaders running the government. I want to visit China one day when it is free from oppression and people can speak their hearts and minds to me without feeling fear.
Fine, I am sorry for my offensive words. But apparently your comment regarding the Chinese government is incorrect, that's what I wanted to say.
I have to tell you the truth - 99% of the people in the NBA and Americans in general agree with Morey. So if you're going to throw a fit about Morey, might as well go ahead and hate everyone. If you think Morey is the only one that sympathizes with HK, you are very uninformed.
I can understand that how important the freedom and democracy are for a country and people. But the problem is that right now most of people are happy with current system and don't feel oppressive from chinese govt. Also due to huge population social stability is also chinese ppl concern. Most ppl only want ecomonic prosperity and social stability and fear choas and riot. The demand for democracy don't have priorty. When it comes to an internatonal affair aganst USA, the ppl and govt are quite united. especially after 70 yrs national anniversary celebrition, I don't see any possibile for chinese ppl to fight for democary and freedom from govt. in general we do not feel fear and oppression from CCP
And you can't learn any real information about us because your government doesn't allow you to see any news that they don't first approve.
I did not ask you this. I know majority of american support morey like majority chinese support banning NBA. This is culture differency. No offence or threat. I just answer the question and let him know what chinese think.
So we're even right? Don't act like you know China better than we know US, OK? Too many Americans talk like they know the ultimate truth of everything, that's a problem. Besides, I have been living in the US for a long time. I am confident to say I know US far better than most Americans know China. Freedom of speech isn't real "free" in US either. Political correctness exists in both countries. Why do you always think your value is the only "right" value?
Tbh man I was abt to come to that part, but to the opposite of your conclusion. I feel Chinese might be seeing outside of China more than you (especially folks from the West) could imagine. You can tell from the busy international airlines every minute in Shanghai alone. On holidays it's even crazier. Those Chinese passengers clearly hv diversified backgrounds, of different classes, education levels, ages, etc.
Think what you want and say what you want. Unless your boss have a Chinese business to take care of. We are aware that there's also a US business to take care of. But Silver / Tilman would not have to choose should Morey acted responsibly
Hold honest and fair elections and see how happy people are with the current system. If people are really that happy with not having a voice, let them show you.
Believe it or not, most Chinese people don't feel they're being oppressed. They treasure economic growth, stability and naional sovereighty much more than freedom of speech. They support CCP not because they have been brainwashed, but because they truly enjoy their better lives under CCP control. There're exceptions of course. The camp in Xinjiang that so many of you brought up for example. There's a reason behind it. Some Uighurs (not all, mind you) wanted to declare independence. They caused major chaos, damaging public properties, hurting innocent citizens, even battling against soldiers with homemade bombs and weapons, beheading the soldiers after they were killed, etc, etc. As I said stability and sovereignty are China's bottom line. Hence the camp. That's why most Chinese people are in support of how CCP handled it. I'm not trying to tell you what CCP did to Uighurs is right. I'm just giving you the reason that some of you may not be aware of by just watching the documentaries. You can trust what I said because I was born and raised in Xinjiang. And lastly you can also trust me when I say this: you can safely visit China today without having to worry about anything. Over there they worship foreigners, especially young girls...
Yes, ppl maybe more happy when they can vote and voice out what they want. Most ppl in china did not experience it and do not know how joyful it will be. One theroy that is very popular in china to convince chinese ppl not to pursue democarcy is the long term strong govrment can keep policy consistence and concentrate on the big development they want to build. This is one reason why chinese economy developed so fast in the recent 30 years. India is the country with demcracy and similar population as china. I guess it is undeniable that as the second biggest economy china is better than india in term of economic development. I am not a chinese official and propaganda communism and tell you non democracy is better. Just an idea
Great, I found a source of info. If you were raised in XinJiang I hope you did not get injured during the Civil War periods when things got ugly. How many cases of unrest would you estimate? There is reason why for everything.
Luckily I already came to US when the chaos happened. But many of my childhood friends were impacted.
There is no such thing as "ultimate truth", but I do want to share some facts with you. - Pork Chop is selling for 80 cents / lb in Fiesta and El Rancho in Houston, Chinese people are paying 5-6 times the cost in China. - Rib Eye steak was selling for 3.77/lb at HEB last weekend, while no only its way more expensive in China, but actually people are eating beef steaks that is made from UNKNOWN meat and stick together by glue. - We have MD Anderson here - the number 1 cancer specialist health care in the world, even our broke US citizen can afford to go there and get treatment, while you will also see a lots of Chines people there coming from mainland, all rich people, some of course the corrupted Chinese officials and with their families. - Winter is coming, for us that's the sh't from the TV when we watch GOT, for you, that means you need to cover your whole family with masks when you need to go outside or even inside, not because you are so brave to protest like the people in Hong Kong, just because the air is so poisoned. - China has the self claimed best high speed rail road in the world, no we do not have such thing here, in fact we don't even have a subway, but we also don't need to work for years to buy a car nor we need to use all of our parents and grand parents saving to buy it. Oh btw, we definitely won't have people fighting for seats all the time like China did in those high speed railcars. - We have Costco here, you have Costco there, but I have never see women pulling down the pants of the kids and let them pee into thew trash can in our Costco, but you are showing it on your social media. - we have shootings everyday happened in America, also many cops brutality. You have man carrying a knife going into schools and stabbing the children there. We have CNN and FOX and all other media will go live for all these terrible news, your cops arresting people for posting any news or pictures on the social media because they are hurting the harmony of the society. - We elected an ass-hole to be our president which is a moron and promoting hatred and sh't, we are waiting for the next turn to kick his ass out. You are much luckier than us, your president changed your constitution and you will never need to vote, lucky you. I know you can talk some same sh't which we are much worse than in China. No one said we are living in a perfect world here. I dare you to do the same comparisons based on facts above at your own fan forum or social media. But I can, because this is America.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_2009_Ürümqi_riots Urumuqi is the capital of Xinjiang. That's where I was born and raised.
A lot of racism flying around in this thread. Let's keep it classy, folks. It's been a long time since part of the United States tried to leave the union, and we fought a Civil War over it. It was an ugly time in our country's history, and Hong Kong seems to be on that path. There's civil unrest right now, the issue seems unresolvable because the people of Hong Kong have grown used to a different lifestyle for generations. And while China claims that it is okay with 2 systems, it seems like some of their policies have put that idea into question. Chinese friends, from an American perspective, what Hong Kong is going through feels a lot like what our own country went through when it broke away from England in our own war for independence. But obviously this is exactly what China is upset about. China has been taken advantage of on the world stage many times historically. (my wife's father lives in Nan Jing, I have a sense of what your country has been through) I don't know how Hong Kong will play out, but if Tibet and Taiwan and Xinjiang are any indication, the Chinese government isn't interested in allowing any of it's sovereignty govern itself. Everyone just needs to sit down and talk it out. The only other possible conclusion is going to be oppression or civil war.
