To Giles' credit, I think he did get a 6-out save in Game 1 of the ALCS. I don't blame Hinch for benching him after Game 4 of the WS. Given how every last out was needed to eek out Game 5 and how clutch CFM was in Game 7, he clearly made the right call.
Anyone know? The other night game was on broadcast fox. Need to know whether or not I need to go home.
Basically this. Too much is made of postseason performance (not just relievers). Greinke had a bad game yesterday. Verlander could be great tonight. He could be bad. It won't have any special meaning on performance outside of what happened on one given day. I find myself in lots of discussions that I should just stay out of. Do this or that...most of the time dealing with things that may improve odds less than the error level of whatever odds one is setting.
I hope LMJ's return time wasn't impacted by pitching with his arm hanging on with dental floss in last year's playoffs. I know Tommy John has a long minimum return time, so maybe it doesn't matter at that point.
Yeesh. I hope Hinch knows what he's doing. If things don't improve offensively, Altuve will be coming to the plate with 2 outs and no one to drive in.
Tommy John is an elbow ligament replacement, so whatever damage he did to his previous one doesn't really matter. He would have been ready for camp in 2020 at the soonest whether he got the surgery immediately or after the postseason.
You are completely correct. It doesn’t get bigger than game 7 of the World Series (to former Astro Luis Gonzales), but to be fair it wasn’t really his fault. He was far also from automatic against the Red Sox. He had blown 7 of the last 22 at the time of the 2004 ALCS: Imagine what people on this board would do if Osuna blew 1/3 of his save opportunities against the Rangers or A’s over three years.

I predict Springer and Alvarez to hit home runs tonight! Verlander is going to get this win. Go Astros!
