Frankly I haven't, but it makes sense that as acceptance of homosexuality grows the more they'd be featured. I don't have a pulse of the gay zeitgeist like some on here.
If it’s an iconic man-cave gangsta show/movie, is it not as noticeable, and OK? The Godfather Fredo Corleone was gay Sopranos Vito was gay Miller’s Crossing Buscemi and Turturro The Wire Omar and Greggs Sons of Anarchy Venus is Trans and Tig is Bi-curious The Shield Julien Even Breaking Bad Gus Fring was gay (and Walt Jr and the Coffee guy) and Lydia is lesbian and Skyler’s sister is Bi. And that’s just off top of my head. How many more gangsta shows/movies can we name here ... lulz. Dozens, I’m sure.
Yes. But now you have to help me and name another Man-cave Classic, Gangsta/Mosbter tv show or movie with a gay, bi, lesbian character.
I only GAF about the gey character in Stranger Things because the setup and original story line was for her to get together with her coworker but then they just undercut that with "ah no I'm gay" which gave zero payoff and just made things awkward for both characters. subverting expectations alone isn't really an interesting thing. It has to lead somewhere else interesting.
The Kray twins were real-life gay gangsters. Griselda Blanco was bi. There's been movies and tv shows about both. Scarlett Johanson was going to play Tex Gill, a trans gangster, but caught flak for it and dropped out of the movie.
*man-cave classics* Fockass Buck Not obscure stuff Test: Who played the gay and lesbian roles in Boardwalk Empire? OP and FFB probably didn’t notice, since they liked the show.
You know what bugs me? The constant parade of "old ladies" on TV and in flicks who are there just to make stupid "jokes" about how horny they are. The spiel has been done to death, yet it keeps being trotted out by "content creators" without an original thought in their noggins.
Just tallied it up. In this decade alone, Netflix has had 226 LBGTQ characters. 226... And the shows I watched with gay characters were: Ozark The Punisher Stranger Things Lucifer House of Cards Black Mirror GLOW Nice try, though...
The Character wasn't written to be gay. Ethan and Uma's daughter thought it would be a GREAT twist at the last second, and the writers caved.
I have noticed the black best friend is gay in a lot of these new Netflix movies too. Netflix trying to get all the diversity in one character, lol.
According to the wikipedia page I've been referencing, nobody came out as gay on that show... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dramatic_television_series_with_LGBT_characters:_1970s–2000s
