Chandler couldn't handle Dwight in that Dallas series a few years ago, not sure why we think this will work now. We'll be able to beat the lower ranking teams as usual. But AD & Dwight will completely destroy us on the boards. The Lakers are who we need to play to beat. Daryl Morey must not have size & rebounding programmed in his calculator
Seriously? I'm not even convinced the Lakers will be in the playoffs. If healthy, Lebron and AD should be enough to get them there, but Lebron is old and coming off the first substantial injury of his career. AD has always been injury prone. They don't have enough talent to survive losing either of those guys for an extended period of time.
Yep, Lebron can't carry a team like he used to and Davis can barely carry a team especially with nagging injuries. One of them goes down for a good amount of time, and the Lakers are in trouble. They might be able to get into that 8th spot.
That's taken without context. Chandler had a frontcourt mate of an aging Dirk and we had a straight fire Josh Smith paired with Dwight doing point forward things. Josh Smith blew by Dirk every time introducing a 1v2 against Chandler. Chandler couldn't cover that and he shouldn't have had to.
Chandler might bolster the confidence of Capeala but will Capaela improve under this system is my biggest question? Ok captain obvious. If the ball has a hole in it, you definitely can't use it! Ok! Thanks!
Low probability of the ball having a hole in it. Reasonably high probability of either Lebron or AD missing significant time. Especially AD.
I can't call it. Lakers got DAvis and Lebron. Sorry it's finders keeper and losers weepers! Chandler and Nene add depth and experience. The physicality is necessity at this point.
Love it. Him a NeNe can take turns backing up clint with every other night rotation only needing them to play probably 2 games a week each taking turns. which is really a nice luxury for us.
Lol its not as simple as chandler vs dwight It will be capela, chandler, nene matching up vs mcgee and dwight at the center position
Dwight is garbage at this point. He is a terrible defender because he does not properly rotate, he cheats on his man and can no longer prevent penetration at all. He rebounds in large part because he will not leave the paint to guard anyone. On offense he will not roll to the basket. He does not move and clogs his own teams penetration as a result. He does not pass well and even struggles to clean up inside off misses. He cannot set successful picks. Tyson Chandler no longer can stop penetration because he is slow off the ground. However he still gets his hands up and is excellent at switching and rotating into position. He still rolls to the basket and sets picks. Neither player has much left but at least Chandler plays hard and smart and in a way to help his team win. Howard just aimlessly stands in the paint.
Tyson Chandler right now is better than Dwight Howard for all the reasons you mentioned. Dwight now belongs in the Beasley/Melo category of guys that look the part, but can't be part of championship calibre rotations.
More of the same, sounds like when he was a Rocket, less injury issues, cap theft and chemistry killer.
Nene in the 2017 playoffs: 20/9/2 on 69 TS% per 36. Rockets eviscerated teams by 14 points per 100 when he was on the court. Nene in the 2018 playoffs: 10/9/2 per 36. 62 TS%. Rockets again steamrolled by 11 points per 100 with him on-court. Nene in the 2019 playoffs: 18/9.5/2 on 97 TS%(!!!!!!!!!!!!). Made EVERY field goal. Did this against two amazing teams in Utah and GS. Rockets smashed those teams 13.5 points per 100 possessions with him on-court. Sad fact: Nene had 3 steals and 1 blocks in 44 minutes against GS. Clint Capela, in 172 minutes, collected 1 steal, and 3 blocks. No way in hell Chandler should play over Nene unless it is to preserve him.
