Fiba tournaments employ many referees from some non high on basketball countries that don't know what they are doing. I didn't see the game so I can't have a personal opinion but I'm not suprised if they deserve to be banned. Fiba should employ refs only from Europe, and the Americas.
Serbia averaged over 15 TOs per game (an 18 TO/gm rate for NBA 48 minutes), 2nd most in the tourney, to Jordan. 17 assists to 16 turnovers v ARG 15 assists to 17 turnovers v Spain That's the weakness of motion offenses. Media loves passing, but in reality, ball-control offenses are the ones that keep the turnovers down, not motion.
i haven't seen any of the games or highlights of this year's FIBA, but just assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that giannis was getting called for the offensive fouls he typically gets away with in the nba, ie. dislodging the defender like shaq used to. also can't comment on the refs, but generally speaking would like to see refs from as wide a pool of countries/continents as possible. surely there must be some good ones in africa/asia as well. basketball is huge in china and besides lithuiania i think philippines is the only other country where bball's the #1 sport
didnt watch except the highlights but heard the stories that he got a lot of favorable calls in the important game they have won
I enjoy the international commentary. This one dude calling the game (Edit: It's Thibbs, lol) on ESPN2 sounds like he just woke up.
Gobert played the whole 1st quarter. Meanwhile, Pops played 10 players with no one over 7 minutes. Apparently, he intends to use the fresh-leg strategy. 40 minutes of hell.
this is the worst ever usa team of pros. if they win it all, which is very likely. should team usa go back to sending college men?
Rudy coached the worst pro team ever...by far,,, during NBA strike. Maybe you mean worse NBA team ever. Had a 10 pt lead with 2:30 left for a likely Gold, when the refs took the game away. Still got Bronze.
