Forgot that it was a day game. Just checked. Whaaaaat! Thought it was an error. Cole one hit them, and Alvarez's mini slump is OVER. Interestingly, the bottom of the order did most of the damage.
Did your kid enjoy running the bases? Did you have to line up early or did you get to see the whole game? I remember we had to line up in the 7th inning when I was a kid.
I knew what time but I thought I would get a nap in and catch the last few innings with it being a 0-0 game when I turned it on. Wrong!
Cole is almost certainly going to top 300 Ks this year. Even after missing a game. He's at 281 right now with three starts left. JV will have a harder time. At 264, he'll need to average 12 K/game to hit 300. Which seems completely doable for him, honestly. The all-time lowest single season WHIP was 0.7373 posted in 2000 by Pedro Martinez. JV currently has pitched exactly 200.0 innings. With three starts left, here's the total amount of walks+hits he can accumulate and beat that record. He currently has 118 H + 36 W = 154 total. His current WHIP is 0.7700. 27 total innings (3 CGs) = 0.7372 * 227 = 167.34 = 167 - 154 = 13 W+H 24 total innings (8 IP/g) = 0.7372 * 224 = 165.13 = 165 - 154 = 11 W+H 21 total innings (7 IP/g) = 0.7372 * 221 = 162.92 = 162 - 154 = 8 W+H 18 total innings (6 IP/g) = 0.7372 * 218 = 160.71 = 160 - 154 = 6 W+H The way he's been pitching in his last 5 starts, the recorded data says this may actually be possible if he keeps it up.
I fully expect to never see a better Astros regular season game in person than what I saw today. Hadn't been to a game in a long time, normally I'm used to sitting there watching the Astros be on the other side of a one hitter.
I’m wondering when, if ever, there has ever been a more lopsided game in MLB history. This might be the biggest ass kicking all around in big league history.
That was easily the biggest ass whooping I have ever seen. 21 runs on offense and one hit away from a perfect game with 17 hitters striking out. Legitimately one of the 10 best pitched games and 10 best offensive games in my life (and likely franchise history) on the same day. Frankly it was kind of mean.
