Him and James are the most interesting pitchers for me right now. JV and Cole are fun to sit back and watch. James and Urquidy can be dominant, but less certainty. I do like that Urquidy limits the walks as some surprises just aren't worth it.
Haven't seen the winner yet imo (assuming all are healthy) Chirinos, MM, Yuli, Altuve, Correa, Bregman, Diaz, Brantley, Springer, Reddick, Alvarez, Straw, Marisnick JV, Cole, Greinke, Miley, Ossuna, Pressley, Harris, Peacock, James, Smith, Biagani, Devo Agree with whoever up stream had Rondon being a DFA candidate. McHugh is in a walk year and not coming back, I think they go with Devo over him in the playoffs due to the better ability to get lefties out, especially since Peacock has struggled with that. I'd assume that if you had something like 2 outs in the 5th inning with a tough lefty up Devo might be the guy they tab to try to get that out. I honestly have no idea what situation you'd use McHugh in. Honestly, if we wanted to go with a 3rd catcher as break glass in case of emergency in the ALDS I'd probably prefer that to Devo. This team is sick.
He's always having a bad day. If you really want to upset him... talk about the Astros 2020 roster or offseason moves.
I'm having a wonderful day. I like redfish on the halfshell.... Sorry that I don't really love the "McCuck" nomenclature, as I said Pistol Pete should probably grow up.
Things are starting to become clearer. Barring any changes, it looks like the position player spots are mostly settled: Starters - 1. C Chirinos 2. 1B Gurriel 3. 2B Altuve 4. 3B Bregman 5. SS Correa 6. LF Brantley 7. CF Springer 8. RF Reddick 9. DH Alvarez Bench 10. C Maldonado 11. UTIL Diaz 12. OF Marisnick 13. UTIL Straw ** Toro and Kyle Tucker have outside shots at the roster pending health / scorching Septembers. The pitchers are a different story. The quartet of starters are a lock - 14. Verlander 15. Cole 16. Greinke 17. Miley Three relievers are settled - 18. Osuna 19. Harris 20. Smith Probables - 21. Devo 22. McHugh Pending injury status - 23. Pressly 24. Sanchez 25. James Outside looking in (or injury replacements - Rondon (probably makes it for one of the injured guys) Peacock (unless he comes back cured) Framber Valdez (needs to show more command, but could use a long guy if Sanchez is out) Biagini (needs a very strong month) Other long shots - Cy Sneed Armenteros Urquidy Cionel Perez
Agree with all of it, although I might group Urquidy and Sneed in the Outside looking in tier. Last guy with a chance would be Armenteros. I really think guys not even on the 40 man would be added before C Perez. Here’s hoping your 25 man pans out because that’s a stacked roster.
Starting in 2 days, we will begin to see what Tucker can offer. My guess is that he makes a big push for the playoff roster as the 13th player. If he outplays Reddick down the stretch, it would be very interesting to see if Reddick could be bumped off the playoff roster. My guess is no; Straw would be the casualty, although Reddick offers little to this lineup off the bench.
I'm not sure Tucker is really going to be given a chance to earn his way onto the playoff roster with only 23 games to go. However, I'd really like to see if he can take over RF now. Reddick really only has defensive skills holding back Tucker now. And if it's defense that is in demand in the playoffs, I'd rather see George in RF and Miles/Jake in CF.
Well...defense and the fact that Tucker is completely unproven as a hitter, with some huge question marks.
Agree with the question marks on the MLB level; I just wish he had enough ABs this month to show his value over Reddick.
I think you're going to see him rotating into the OF at the corners and at DH every 2 or 3 out of 5 games while they give Spring/Mike/Yordan (a bit, he needs some video and cage work) and Josh (ain't gonna get it back without ABs) some rest. He's gonna to get a shot.
Probably not enough of one. Just funny that Astros best prospect who has been blocked all season plays at Astros biggest hole.
