The official don't re-sign Clowney thread

I don't know who's feeding all these guy all the info but I don't think it helping either party. Someone is playing games and is using the media. They need to just shut and let it happen. We don't need any distraction from the fact that Devlin is still the offensive line coach.

 

I don't want to trade Clowney, but I don't think he's worth quite what he wants, and if it brings us O-Line help, then sure, go for it. But this is not an encouraging way to star the season, having turmoil with one of your best players.

 

I am guessing he is waiting until the last minute to see if he can get his new agent to find a better deal for him than Miami

We don't even know what he wants so we can't say he isn't worth it. I don't think the Texans, or at least the head coach, really want Clowney. Maybe others in the org, Crennel maybe, do. If they offered him a contract, they probably low balled him. I'm just ready for it to end already.

 

If Breer is right that both sides were cool with playing out the season under the tag, not furthering any negotiations makes more sense.

But ya I don’t understand the Miami thing. Sure they’re not a contender but that seems as good of a situation you can be in outside of New England, LA, NO.

 

If they trade Clowney for like Tunsil plus then fine, but my guess is they get a pick package that isn't impressive. Hope to be wrong.

Pretty crazy to me that this is all coming about because:
1) Texans coaches CHOSE Tytus Howard over Andre Dillard
2) Texans HC doesn't care for Clowney
3) Texans did nothing in FA to address the OLine
4) Tytus Howard not impressing HC
5) HC now wants to trade a top 10 defender for an Olineman because of all his failures

Every failure by OBrien along the way creates a debt that has to be paid.

 

Good. Fleece them.

Something tells me Clowney is not the type to really push to excel once he signs that contract.

 

Who else thinks BOB and his band of yes men are about to get swindled?

Clowney may not like Miami's on-field product, but he's rich and living near South Beach. That's a great combo! In Seattle the women don't shave their armpits and in Philadelphia even the female fans will curse you for a mediocre game. Get smart!
