The first part, before it went haywire with bats and knives, reminded me instantly of this (eta: the fight starting at the 1:45ish part):
I find it hard to believe he was not permanently cut. Seems there must be more to this story. He is not that good to keep around.
My thoughts were that because he assaulted a fellow employee, regardless of criminal charges filed (as of yet), in front of multiple witnesses, and they're both MLBPA members...that there might be some legal things at play that we're not privy to. Also, caveat, this is all assuming this story is true. I have no reason to doubt it at this point.
Not disagreeing, but they should be able to cut Guduan due to lack of performance regardless of any other issues.
You would think. Is there a precedent for this? A teammate beating up another and then getting cut immediately?
Probably not very high but I was really surprised at Toro’s callup so you never know. Like Toro, Javier is scheduled to be Rule 5 eligible so he will be added to the 40 man by November, which increases odds he will be called up.
With the expected release of Guduan, maybe they can 40 man one of Javier and Paredes in September and see what they can do in relief? I only see four real locks for the post-season roster in Osuna, Pressly, Harris, and McHugh. Peacock and James will probably make it but both are coming off injuries, and after that I have no idea who they would want for the seventh reliever.
Reports on Javiers stuff aren’t that great so I would be really really surprised if he was a possibility for the postseason roster. I could see him called up in September to eat some trash innings.
https://therunnersports.com/astros-international-pool-cristian-javier-crafty-dominican-righty/ Reading this makes his stuff seem comparable to both McHugh and Peacock, no?
In the sense that he’s a spin rate guy with low velocity, yes. But Peacock and McHugh weren’t considered high ceiling prospects or touted for the type of stuff that would make for somebody who gets called directly into playoff baseball.
Kyle Tucker just stole second for his 30th stolen base, and he's now the first 30-30 player in Round Rock history. Fifth ever player in PCL history, according to the RR broadcaster Mike Capps.
His fastball isn’t very good. He has two other pitches that are very good and a change up that is very good when he has control of it. His future rests 100% on that change up and polishing his command. If he gets the change up over consistently for strikes, he will be good for a really long time.
If Tucker is called up September 1 when rosters expand, is he eligible for the post season roster? Just wondering, what if he comes up and goes Alvarez on mlb, is it an option?
