Just a simple, harmless comment by Harden but sports media has taken it and ran with it. People were just starting favor us again since we swapped the more like-able Russ for CP but it seems we're now back to villain-status.
He's 100% right but espn media already jumped all over this blaming Harden for his own ineptitude. You don't just come in second place for the mvp 3 times in a row during a narrative of "its a close race" then lose by a landslide every time. The media just wants Harden to be around as the 2nd place villain. Nothing more. Even the year he won, they wanted to give it to Lebron even though the team was so dysfunctional that year. If Harden was on that dysfunctional Lebron team, he would've not even make 3rd team all-nba.
loser mentality... doesn't change the fact that he didn't step up and make the clutch shots that he needed to make to win when he had the chance.
If anyone else had said it, it's probably a non-story. When the guy who came in second says it, it's WAY too easy to be interpreted as him being a sore loser, whether or not he's right (he is right about narrative being a big part).
so the media has a preconceived narrative? You mean they only cite facts and opinions that help propel that narrative - and ignore contradictory evidence? ...it aint just the sports media... remember when the news was about information? Now its just a tool to push an agenda... smh...
Well it's not undeserving and we are definitely up there in the whining department. Aside from the Warriors, we might be the most self-entitled, loud mouth organisation in the league. Always trying to start something about Harden being the best, our team not being respected, the media, stat whoring and ignoring the legitimate doubts people have about Harden, Morey and our team at times. There's always something. I get that the Rockets are not the most liked by the media by default, it's probably the 93-95 championships that they're still hurt about, but I prefer a more quiet owner, GM, star player who just go about their business. If we ever win a trophy, then we can maybe start talking about Harden as the best scorer, for example. Maybe then we can say we're not being respected enough, just like the Warriors are doing, but it's an ugly look. You cannot deny that some of the reasons people hate the Warriors for and this includes part of the media, is exactly why they hate the Rockets. The difference is the Warriors have had the post-season success to sort of back it up and get more leeway from everyone since you are allowed as champions to talk a bit of smack, think you're the best etc.
Call them out, I love it, expose the journalists with biased agendas.... Broussard is not the only one
