Speaking of fair pay...I posted this earlier today. Lue would surely be leaving money on the table taking a job this year...especially that Clips asst job. [edit] this assumes Lue has the standard clause for coaches in his contract that removes Cavs from payment, if he takes another coaching gig...ie, no double-dipping contracts.
I give Ty points for working with mega superstars, like Lebron and all that come with Lebron. As far as the others stuff: X&O's, roster rotations, defensive/offensive schemes. TBH, not sure how much of that in Cleveland's success was him (or just him not getting in Lebron's way). We have Bzedlik on defense. Offensively Lue's a downgrade from MDA (or Adleman if we look at past coaches), better than McHale. He's a solid head coach, but whenever a head coaching vacancy, media kinda slightly over hype him.
Hey, @cyberx ... thx for the info, as always. Question: any chance you could ask around to see if Lue forfeits the last payment of his $7m/yr contract that Cavs are paying, if he takes another coaching gig? If so, $-matching would be an issue this yr, because Tilman won’t pay him enuf to match that $7m. Or is there a Set-Off, where Cavs must make up the difference, for say, if Tilman only offers him $1m, Cavs pay $6m. For reference, here Stein explains that the guaranteed portion lasts through this year. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/28/sports/basketball/tyronn-lue-fired-cleveland-cavaliers.html
Warren LeGarie is playing a dangerous game. Danuel House was playing a dangerous game. So many dangerous games around Tilman. Tilman is playing dangerous games while Steve Balmer plays basketball.
MDA isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. We're going to have a sparkling regular season record. While I appreciate your contributions over the years, this is agenda laden West Coast drivel. Most likely an attempt to gain leverage in talks with the Clippers. You've been slipping for awhile now, C. BTW..Lue is so overrated.LBJ ran that team. And , James would run this one. NOT going to happen. MDA will be reupped while we're kicking ass during the regular season.
Bzdelik is gone, as is the rest of Mike Ds staff. They are setting him up to fail. The Ty lue disrespect here is crazy. To pretend like he just sat there and let Lebron “coach” and they magically beat a 73 win team in the finals is ridiculous.
Former Rockets that would make good coaches for the current team in order: Mario Elie Shane Battier Brent Barry Chuck Hayes PJ Tucker Hakeem Olajuwon possibly Kenny Smith. Think Mark Jackson is a good coach, but not for this team would help the defense for sure.
No offense but no to all of them. None of them other than Jackson is elite at offense or defense. We already had a figure head coach and it didn't work out. The Rockets need to be targeting elite coaches.
Are you talking about playing skills or coaching? How are you measuring their coaching skills? Battier and Brent Barry already have jobs higher than head coach level with high level organizations. Elie has coached under Don Nelson and Popovich
Seems like a BS line to make Lue seem like an asset to the Lakers. Nobody wants Lue. Cybrex with a big whiff of Laker farts.
