It’s interesting that over his last two appearances, Sanchez has struck out 16 and hasn’t walked anyone. He clearly has good stuff and command of it at the moment. Toronto traded him at the absolute worst possible time.
His curveball is by far his best pitch, and he's only throwing it 20+% of the time. I'd expect that to increase with the Stros. His mechanics on both his 2 and 4-seam fastballs have been terrible, and they've both been equally terrible pitches for him. Seems highly likely that's the first time that's ever happened for the Astros. Possibly for anyone considering the Rookie of the Month award only came into existence in 2001. If anyone has an easier way than the current Excel kludgery I'm doing to figure that out, please let us know.
Only time the Stros have had both the pitcher and player of the month was in May of '17 (LMJ and Correa). July of '17 had Altuve as POTM and Yuli as ROTM, and last month was Cole and Yordan.
