I guess that Tilman is not willing to pay Gordon at market price. Tilman may not go to bidding war next summer, either.
Shady war profiteer without really enough money to buy the Astros. Didn't have the money to make the purchase earlier, when McLane was asking a lot more money. Unknown whether they had enough to make the purchase, given MLB's debt/equity rules, if MLB wasn't desperate for some good ownership news in the wake of the Dodgers debacle with the McCourts that year, and the Cubs issues two years prior. Not aided by the monumental tank job the organization did for the following three years. Or by the television rights issues with Root Sports. This Forbes article at the time laid out a lot of the concerns: https://www.forbes.com/sites/sports...ld-become-baseballs-most-controversial-owner/ Definitely not sunshine and roses. All of that appears to be behind them now. Winning fixes a lot.
Agree. I wrote it already upthread, but I hope the public comparisons between Crane's bold action at the trade deadline and Fertitta's actions so far this offseason, embarrasses Fertitta and goads him into making that one final move this team IMHO still needs in order to be a solid favorite to win it all.
Tilman is a fighter until he has to flip the bill on role players, assistant coaches and extending their head coach.
Dude has completely ducked the media since not expanding the Russ deal. Once Shumpert is a lost asset, I'm ready for a NWO style heel turn from the GOAT. @The Cat ... It's the only thing keeping me excited about this off season.
Jeff Lunhow >>>>> Morey And I like Morey so not taking a stab at him but Morey has made plenty of mistakes and has some hard on for getting big names that often gets in the way IMO or making the correct decisions. Lunhow is the best GM in sports IMO. The man has changed the way people think, if you doubt that go read AstroBall. There’s a reason other teams have hacked into the Astros database and other teams have been throwing money at his assistants trying to get access to his knowledge.
Please do not mention the Rockets/Daryl Morey/Tilman Fertitta/Thaddeus Brown or Texans/Bill O'Brien/Rick Smith/Brian Gaine/Cal McNair/Bob McNair in the same breath as the Astros. Astros >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Astros . . . . . . . . . . . . . Rockets . Texans
This. Astros are on the verge of a dynasty for those who don’t understand or watch baseball. Winning 100 games three years in a row is tough to do (it’s like winning 60+ three years in a row) and their roster is so young, they’re still getting better.
He's had something Morey never has - Early picks. I think they are both at the top of the heap in their respective sports.
