Not sure Detroit (Jackson+Snell+Galloway+Kennard?) has a more competitive offer than Heat. But it is close to be fair. NYK has to wait until Dec 15th. Orlando might not be a destination RW would prefer and I believe that Presti will work with RW on this. The Bulls would be a good fit on paper but come up with the trade that makes sense. I don't see it. See, teams thin out quite quickly.
OKC wouldn't touch that without picks, thus, the need for a third team, but there are better 3rd teams to work with than the Rockets. Still the best thing to happen would be Westbrick to the East and us peddling CP to Miami for that deal or better.
shumpert aint done $hit since he split from Cleveland. Shujmpert in same boat with gary clark, Dwight 'da booty man' howard.
If one still believes that Boston could be eyeing Clint Capela, worth noting that Boston still has not signed their first round picks and they are trade eligible
It was always going to have to be a sign and trade, we cant offer any reasonable contract to him, and even if we did Suns could match easily. So still possible, but never was a good chance the suns would let him go. I mean, they paid Ariza 15 mils.
Since all the starting caliber free-agent centers have signed, it doesn’t make sense to trade Capela now.
You think Winslow has All-NBA level Defense? Covington has reached that level. I would say 3s and D are the 2 areas that Winslow is behind Covington, but I didn't watch much of other teams ball last year. How would you compare these guys to PJ Tucker or IMO the elite Defensive small forwards would be off the top of my head: Kahwi Durant Butler Covington Paul George Giannis I don't really put Winslow in that group yet. He does have good physical tools, but most of those guys have ridiculous physical advantages in height and wingspan to go with their athleticism and tenacity. Winslow has good strength that makes him a good matchup for certain guys though. I would consider him a poor mans Kahwi or a lesser Jimmy Butler
Well, yeah, but this is the Shump SnT trade thread and that’s precisely the type of deal I was hoping for. Hopefully, we can target Winslow now.
I'm saying Oubre isn't out is he? Suns signed him, now just need to trade him to us. Preferably for Shumpert, but I will take what ever. As far as Winslow goes, has Pat Riley ever traded with the Rockets? I can think of a lot of guys we wanted that they signed, but not many they sent to us. There's a first time for everthing though I would love it.
I don't think we'd want another shooting guard, so what would you give for Grant Williams, SEC Player of the Year, two years in a row? Capela for Smart and Williams works, especially if Paul is being moved in some other deal. Or a big trade: Capela and Gordon for Hayward, Williams, and 6.7 million in additional salary.
Love Grant Williams, very smart, very versatile, very thicc but he is another below the rim player, like Tucker with less efficient 3 ball. Prefer a longer more athletic complementary player at 4.
Do bird rights expire at the start of a new year or continue through the whole season? Would sign and trade still be possible at the trade deadline? If so this could be a brilliant move for salary matching/ Luxury Tax Savings. I could see a team willing to take a pro-rated $12-16 mil deal that will only cost them 6-8 mil for someone with that salary. Also it lowers the amount paid by the Rockets to only what we receive in the trade (also pro-rated). I haven't found anything to show this isn't possible, but I don't think it has ever happened. The longer Shump goes unsigned the more I think this might be a possibility. I mean if he can wait half a season and make $6-8 mil on the year may be better than anything anyone else would offer him.
I'm curious what the largest amount we can sign Shumpert to on a one year deal? No sign and trade, just one year deal. I think we have to resign Shumpert to a deal of at least the $13.2M mentioned previously. If you did that you could wait until after he is eligible to be traded in December to see which teams are falling down the standings. I think this is the only realistic opportunity of upgrading our team without trading a core player. There are a few different types of players that make sense for a Shumpert trade. I've come up with a few of them. Robert Covington (previously mentioned)- He is only making $11.3M a year and has 3 more years left on his contract. If Minnesota doesn't start well they might give him up for Shump and a first. Julius Randle- This is my personal favorite. He is making $18M this year and has 3 more years left. Knicks won't be good and might regret having used that cap space. Does Shump and a first (or two seconds) get that done? James Johnson- He is making $15.1M this year and has 2 more years left. If Miami doesn't play well, I would be willing to flip Shumpert for Johnson to save the Heat some money. (No first rounder in this one) Thaddeus Young- He is making $12.9M this year with 2 more years left and a partially guaranteed 3rd. Maybe the Bulls would regret having spent cap on him when they are at the bottom of the standings. Terrence Ross- He is making $12.5M this year and is on the books for 4 more years. He doesn't really fit a need but is a good bench scorer. Might be getable if the Magic have a bad year. And maybe the Wackiest idea, Jonas Valanciunas- Making $16M this year and has 3 more years. Grizzlies are in rebuilding mode and may want to move off him. He only makes sense if we are looking to trade Capela for someone else. These are all guys where the other team would be saving future money. There are obviously other guys on expirings that we could throw in a pick to make work (Gallinari?!).
The Big Val is one of the best rollers in the league and he can rebound, mid range game & protects the rim —> Capela is a very tradable asset. Julius Randle is value on his new contract if plays like he did last year. If DM were to bring him in with those assets it would be robbery. Shumpert For Val Then Capela For Randle and FRP Then flip the FRP for more help
Rockets gonna get killed if matched up against lakers or clippers. Clippers 3 best defensive players (all high end defenders) can guard the rockets best 3 players. Montrezl will dominate inside, and Lou Williams and shamet are great role players. Green and harkless are about as good a 8th and 9th option you can find. On the lakers AD, cousins and lebron dominate anyone on rockets tiny front line. Predicting 52 wins and a second round exit, unless we get a major piece.
Best case we get valincunas, and can trade capela for love. Get a legit starting C and a small ball C/Starting PF to space the floor for Russ to drive and kick. If not still open to trading capela for love and getting a cheap big like Dwight Howard or wait for buyout of vet like Marc gasol.
