I don't think he's comparing McLemore to your average fan or your casual basketball pick up game player. He's comparing McLemore to the rest of the NBA and, in that comparison, he's a scrub.

He can shoot the 3, but he may be one of the worst defensive guards in the league.

That's where I come out too. He was a superlative shooter coming out of college, but hasn't clicked yet... low risk, decent reward type of pickup. He also went to HS in Humble... which fits the GreenHouse gang.

That said, we have decent depth at the guard spots and at the 5... we need long wings and 3/4 types. He's not that.

I saw him live his rookie year and was really, really impressed with his athleticism, which should still be there at age 26. Not sure how he fits in with our glut of guards, but I'd love to see what he can do in our system. Can hit the 3 and while the handle is shaky, he can attack close-outs. Hope he makes the roster.

    We have so many guards.

    Westbrook/Harden/Gordon/Rivers/Green(2/3)/maybe Clemons/maybe McLemore...

We have to go REALLY small for these guys to get playing time.

Ben has a very similar career arc to Gerald Green.

Both young immature high flyers who could develop a good career as 3 pt shooters.

    Ponds? Chiozza?

I think they still value Ponds and Chiozza showed some good playmaking in Summer league.

Scoring has never been the issue.

Neither of those guys will be on the active roster. Ponds I guess has a shot at a real contract, but could also get a 2 way deal. Either way I expect him at RGV all year. Chiozza...seems like an RGV guy as well. Hard to see how they could carry him.

Hmmm, I know they got Harden and WB but could really use some of the playmaking with the 3rd stringers.

Not sure Austin Rivers is that guy.

Has some real potential with them State Farm assists.

Could be a better shooting Ishmael Smith?

So...Daryl found a new draft year to kick the tires on former lottery picks?

Nothing really wrong with this. He’s still young, we need cheap contracts, he has some skill. Why not?
