Looney will never be an all star and he likely never is selected to represent USA in Olympics.

Faried was easily the better player at one time.

The NBA game changed and guys like Looney became more valuable but Looney will never be as good offensively as Manimal was during his prime.

I’m discussing the versions within the space-time continuum, where the Looney playing last season is compared to the Faried playing last season. Now, if you invent some sort of arcane device to alter the fundament, then perhaps we could have a different conversation.

Still believe Faried is better offensive player than Looney right now. Faried is still a double double machine.

Not nearly as good defensive IQ or perimeter defense however.

Lmao. Looney is nowhere the player Kenneth Faried is, stop it. The difference is Looney was given a opportunity by a coach who understands the importance in trusting his bench. MDA is stubborn. He trust in guys based on his personal relationship, i.e. Iman Shumpert. If Faried was in Looney wouldn't have went crazy like he did

    I’m sure it’s fundamental!

Why did Looney have interest from multiple teams and end up signing a $15mil contract while Faried was waived before coming to the rockets, and is currently not with any team?

Same reason people gave Festus Ezeli $7M/year, and Harrison Barnes $24M/year.

Dan Tony acted like he would rather have a Roto Rooter colonoscopy than Faried on the team; so why is this thread alive?

    • He can’t defend the rim
    • Isn’t quick enough to switch on the perimeter
    • Doesn’t have the b-ball IQ to know how to switch
    • Has zero self awareness to know what he is now and improve.
30 teams have passed on him for a reason.

So Tucker, House, Gordon and Capela are stars now?

How about Ariza and Luc were they stars to?I

Nene was unplayable because he was injured and we had more size.

    Think critically people.

So why does Looney have a team and Faried does not?

He did the same thing to Harrell.

    Side note:
Coach has stunted the development of players for years because he believes in very tight rotation and box scores. He is as much into stats as DM —> Harden MVP run. (Now with Westbrook I can only imagine). Look at the playing time of both Tucker and Ariza both older role players logging all star minutes to the detriment of the development of the young players. He cutting years off of Harden’s career, IMO. How long can a team withstand this without long term effects? It can’t, we feel them now because Clark, Hartenstein and House are still all basically rookies—> that’s on MDA and one is on DM. Both positive and negative we are in this off season because of them. I am happy to be here with them as our lead but sometimes it is frustrating. With 2 super max players we can’t just sign role players (no cap room) so we have to make them. MDA has to let it happen within the league so our youth became trustworthy to him and he can use them in situations rather than not making any adjustments to win a championship.

What exactly does Looney being on GS in a WHOLE different system have to do with Faried's situation with us? This is how you judge a guys talent level?

These lame talking points must be from 2016 or something. None of this applied to him last season, when he was given consistent minutes. He had enough "self awareness" to fill in when Capela was hurt, and still perform at a high level with no practice time with the team. We beat GS IN GS with Faried playing solid minutes. You make no sense

Right....which is why zero teams in the league have signed him on July 21st.

Why as an offensive specialist he had a negative ORPM

You keep thinking you are smarting than everyone else.

Right, the same amount of teams that wanted Patrick Beverley before he got here. Or Josh Smith, or guys like Nene who got here & contributed well. I actually WATCHED every game last year & witnessed how well Faried fit in, so I don't care about ORPM.

Faried is a high energy guy who'll get extra possessions & finish above the rim. Common sense should tell you that's the role that fits perfect on OUR team

You named all players that the Rockets wanted. Who’s metrics showed they were undervalued. The Rockets are the team that optimizes players. The Rockets obviously don’t see a pressing need for Faried. He was good for what he was.

Relying on the eye test only leads to overconfidence and lacks objectivity.

Once again good job on believing you know better than 30 nba teams and not providing any statistics to back up your position.

30 other teams do not play like the Rockets.

    Circular logic.

Which is even more evidence that he is a replaceable player.

We play a style that optimizes his skill set and the Rockets are still reluctant to sign him.
