According to them, all you have to do is to beat Pelicans and Mavs. Good news here is that Clippers have not improved at all. Blazers are 12th seed and Spurs are 13th seed.
Blazers disrespect is real. How can they be overrated when every year they're "underrated"? Vegas/models/predictions: Just set the Blazers at 41/42 wins!
It's still hard to take them seriously when they've adopted the word "CARMELO" for their system. It brings up all sorts of completely unrelated questions. "Does this stat mean how the good team is because Carmelo Anthony is not on their team?" "Does Full Strength Carmelo mean how annoying and frustrating they are to the other teams?" "Yo, dawg, I hate how Houston plays the game. And the stats back me up. Look at the Rockets' Carmelo score. It's off the charts."
Yes it wouldn’t surprise me if they took a huge step back. They could be the worst defensive team in the league. Unless whiteside averages 11 blocks a game.
I hope they get a minus point every time they go wrong. They had the Rockets as favorites to win 2 championships the last 2 years. Throw out the stats first before figuring out how the pieces fit........very much like Morey.
Last year preseason and day before playoffs they had Warriors as highest odds to win. And at both points they had them beating Toronto. Predicted the finals matchup and only missed because of multiple injuries. Their projections are not bad. Definitely not perfect though.
Yeah, but they project regular season wonders the same as in the Playoffs. That is my gripe, those are not the same. One is like a league, the other like a serious tournament. True, the Rockets have shown that they are a threat to win the Conference every year. The league format suits them the most. But they haven't been the Top 2 team every year in the Playoffs. Old age, execution, focus play a role.
I’d disagree. Milwaukee after the season was completed had all the statistics that showed them to be the clearly superior team and yet it still had Toronto as the title favorite in the East. Their model adjusts for the playoffs.
Then who cares about their models now to March....... They should just do one for the regular season and one for the playoffs. Updating isn't forecasting.......everyone can update, it is harder to get it right in advance. I dun even need those stats to know that the Rockets are an offensive juggernaut with CP3 or Russell WB. Nothing changes much really other than Russ is more exciting with highlight reels. It might work for folks who have no knowledge or interest to follow the West in the NBA, and click on their webpage to get the info. Other than GSW, Milwaukee and Toronto were the 2nd and 3rd team to win it all. I would have predicted that based on eye test and going on NBA.com and ESPN.com before the Playoffs started. I wasn't off that much. Those were the Top 3 teams with the deepest team, chemistry and at least one superstar.
Well the reason to care, I guess, is they have successfully forecasted in the preseason the teams to advance to the finals correctly in 3 consecutive years and picked the winner correctly 2/3 times. EDIT. Upon further review.... 4 straight years forecasted the finals matchup and 3/4 forecasted the winner.
Then why I am seeing that the Rockets are favored times and times again even when chemistry is at question? And I know they will correct it, no way the Clippers are 5th of 6th best team.......this is ridiculous. And sure the 2nd and 3rd best team in the West have only 51 wins.....sure.
Time and time again? This is the first year their preseason projection had us as the overall favorite. And these projections don’t have 100% next to them. Again they aren’t perfect, but they do a pretty good job.
