complete and total failure by the front office and ownership this offseason, likely caused by our unwillingness to pay the tax last season. We could not afford to strikeout on all free agents like this. I’m a sunshine pumper and rarely reactionary, but missing out on Green, both Morris twins and pretty much all non-Rocket free agents is disastrous.
I expected us to have a bad summer going in, but then Morey and the rest of the FO got my hopes up about Jimmy Butler with all this severely misplaced confidence...so now I’m just mad if I’m Green, I’d rather stay in LA with the Clippers and Doc Rivers than come here tbh...he’s already familiar with the organization, and they’re a contender...they were a really close team last year as well, so I’m sure that left an impression
I assume we are one of the teams that offered him more money. Sucks that he's taking a paycut to stay there.
Gerald Green, Danuel House and Austin Rivers. That's all we've done this off-season. Couple guys whom you couldn't play in the playoffs. SMH
He reportedly turned down “more lucrative offers elsewhere”. He was going back to the Clippers regardless. Calm down with the “failure on the Rockets part” takes.
I was the same way. There aren't a lot of promising free agents that are left who can contribute. Jeremy Lin and Corey Brewer come on down!
We were never an option, was expected. Who wouldn’t go back to the Clippers after getting Kawhi and PG?
im telling yall, we need to petition for our tax money to build a beach here in houston. possibly a large lake with palm trees. maybe even a casino. i think thatll win us some free agents.
I assume too but it seems we all need to be questioning if we are even trying to use any more of our MLE. They fooled us last offseason with this **** but until they actually put their money where there mouth is we should all be badmouthing this front office right now. I am not an over-reactor either but I finally see the writing on the wall unless proven otherwise.
It's still a failure if the Rockets are unable to add a single good rotation player to their roster this off-season. They traded contracts and picks for nothing last year that likely would have given them more flexibility this off-season. Green was probably the best available FA for this team left so without a trade this off-season could end up being a failure.
Seems like the Rockets made him an offer but he though he had a better chance at a title with the Clippers.
None of those guys have actually signed yet. If the Rockets' plan was just to sign those guys and be done with the offseason, it would have already happened. They are working on something larger. Whether it comes to fruition remains to be seen, but you can rest assured that they are trying to acquire someone better than JaMychal Green.
I don't know how to feel. We only would have been able to offer the NT-MLE to slightly beat out his Clippers offer—And technically we don't know if the Rockets didn't since they said he received better offers from other teams but chose the Clippers. Would he have been worth being hard capped?
