that's nuts... here's hoping he's just nowq finding his groove and can continue this production throughout the rest of the season.
It's telling. Any production from the middle-bottom of the order leads to wins with this team as the top is so good.
Audible astros chants throughout the stadium tonight. Fun atmosphere. Was sitting in the right field upper deck
.340/.377/.740 over last 15 days. Oh, that .740 is SLG% not OPS http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/36006/yuli-gurriel
I was there last night. What an absolute blast. I would say 15% Astros fans which is a lot when you’re talking a big stadium. Be there again tonight.
The Chronicle actually has an article on this from last night: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...der-How-Carlos-Beltran-helped-to-14068517.php Quote: Beltran, a special adviser to Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, met with Gurriel during the series. Beltran told the 34-year-old Cuban to look at the baseball with both eyes. "Carlos helped me a lot," Gurriel said Tuesday night through an interpreter. "He told me to look at the ball with two eyes and not with one eye. Just making that adjustment has helped me out." Listening into the answer, Alex Bregman — a fine Spanish speaker — contributed that Gurriel's stance was somewhat closed off. He's opened the stance more, Bregman said, and seeing pitches is easier. I never really knew what to make of people's assertions about how much Beltran helped us in 2017, but I think I finally get it. I wonder how much he's helped the Yankees bats as well. I wonder what we need to do to get some more advice from him on the down-low for our other batters, such as the excellent-Spanish-speaking Alex Bregman.
I really wished Houston could have added him to the staff. After reading the world series book, I'm convinced Houston doesn't win the World Series without him. He is a student of the game.
We may not have won that series without Derek Fisher so Beltran's value to that club is immeasurable. Would love to have him here. I thought he wanted to coach when he retired but didn't realize he was in the Yankees front office.
If I had the assistant to the traveling secretary job for the yankees,I would urge Mr. Steinbrenner to not allow Carlos to talk to any former teammates not matter how cool their hair was. Glad Beltran did though.
He interviewed for the Yankees managerial vacancy after retirement, but didn't get it. I think it's clear that his heart is in NYC.
