Capela: Rebound monster? No. Great defender like Gobert or Green? No. Shooting with range? No. Offense skills? No. I really want to see how's Capela playing without Harden.
Capela's absolutely got potential. Other teams should consider him. But he's a fixer-upper. He needs a coach that will pound some fundamentals into him and make him a solid, more independent player. That's why his potential on this team is kaput; we don't have a coach that will do that. A savvy team that thinks they can do that should lowball an offer for him to see if the Rockets will bite. I doubt the Rockets will want to take a heavy loss on him, though, so he'll probably be back next year.
I have lost some faith in him, which is natural I think. However, in case we trade him for Butler then Morey better have already reached out to DeAndre Jordan or someone to replace him. Cannot go into the season with Hartenstein and Nene as your centers.
I love Clint. I'm still high on him. I just don't trust him. His lack of effort and his carelessness when it comes to boxing out vs GS was alarming. He went from being one of the better perimeter defenders (centers) to being a liability on the perimeter. I'm nit picking but l still don't understand why he was giving Curry space to shoot. He let Curry find his rhythm, when he would crowd him in the past. MDA lit into him about it but it seemed like it had no effect. With everything on the line he completely disappeared. It's like he spaced out. If he was healthy, his effort and attention to detail was unforgivable. I wouldn't just give him away without a back up plan for a starting center. But if we are talking a Butler opt in scenario, and Clint is the guy who we can move to a third team(hopefully) then you have to pull the trigger. This team desperately needs a starting wing. As far as matchups go, I'm not sure it's just a GS thing either. The Raptors bigs are tough, smart and fundamentally sound. I'm not sure if he would have fared any better had we made it the finals. Contrary to popular belief GS isn't the only team that Clint struggles against. There are specific bigs that completely out match him on both ends. When Clint is engaged he can be a beast. His Dunks, rebounding, rim running and shot blocking are amazing. He has real value. I still love Clint and will support him if he is here next year. I just don't trust him to help us actually win a title anymore.
Here's the good new the butler thing probably isn't gonna happen. The team as is n with like u said gsw out the picture current rockets are the team to beat. So I think of it as win win
If the Tarik Blacks of the world don’t do it for CF then CF needs to ease off the trigger grip. Like, Capela not good enough, need a shooter but wouldn’t dare give Hartenstein a chance, need a big center but Nene too slow, need someone better than Black... if only a 7’2” dancing bear with range to 30 feet, immeasurable hops, potential DPOY with the rugged heart to do the dirty work could fall out of thin air?
You say that, but he didn't show up against non-Warriors teams in the playoffs. I'll give him a pass on the two or three games he was playing sick.
I am still high on Capela... even if "healthy," it still takes time to get to full strength/conditioning with a bacterial and viral infection. I think he's a starting caliber center on a contending team but does not need to be the featured player. He's continued to improve every year including last as he was on track to be an all-star before the injury with the playoffs being an aberration (even at full strength, everyone has a bad stretch of 5 games on occasion). I'll still take him over DeAndre Jordan although I am willing to shed Capela for Butler. He's an upgrade from our center purgatory in the post-Yao era although he will never be in the same tier as Moses, Elvin, Hakeem, and Yao. He is not dominant in one particular area but does not have a crippling weakness. Smarter than Dwight. Better hands than Omer. More heart than Cato. Taller than Chuckwagon. Younger than Mutombo/Nene. More consistent free throw % than half of those guys listed above. Stronger than future defensive player of the year Zhou Qi. (Sorry, not sorry, for the cheap shot)
Im super high on Capela right now. He's a future hall-of-famer and worth 3 first round draft picks at least.
if hes back, I wouldn't mind since GS is out of the picture for next year. he has dominated some of the "best" centers in this league. it sucks GS made him look so bad but that doesn't take away the fact that capela is an impact player against pretty much everyone else.
