It’s baseball, no single team has better than like a 25% chance of winning the WS.... having said that, the Astros have looked like the best team in the AL.

Altuve is still rusty, Springer is out, Correa is out, Diaz is out, McHugh is out.... and we have a war chest of assets to improve at the deadline.

    I’ll take:

    Springer
    Altuve
    Bregman
    Correa
    Alvarez
    Brantley
    Reddick
    Chirinos
(Whoever we get to play first)

Nah, they won't stack lefties like that. Move Alvarez over CC and Chirinos over Reddick.

I just threw it together, not necessarily the line up they will use, just the names. I’ll say this though... If Alvarez keeps hitting and Correa comes back healthy... we can really grind out runs. The Yankees have more power but we have contact guys... if Gurriel doesn’t turn it around, there will be guys to play first in trade that won’t cost much at all... we could easily put a line up out there with all 9 guys being above average.

Was wondering how much the rain played into at least two of the home runs that inning. That could have gone into rain delay much earlier.

Well if your 1st baseman is gonna bat 9th, Gurriel can do that.

That looks pretty good, but I'd move Correa down after Brantley, I know you said you just threw this together; that's actually the only thing I'd change. Correa seemed to do pretty well in the 6-7 spot last year. Also, even after only his short time here, I say you've got to have Alvarez batting cleanup. I'm convinced. He exudes "cleanup" from every pore.

Even though I see this team as is championship caliber, it does take players almost a year to come back from extended injuries. So to just think Correa, Altuve, and Springer plug in and we'll be back to normal is misguided. Think we saw that last year. Think it's been proven time and time again. The players say it. And think we'll see it again this year. There is evidence a trade would help, but see myself no reason to trade. We had and have plugged Alvarez in as an upgrade. Gurriel is still a clutch hitter and to be feared in a playoff lineup regardless of the regular season result. The only real hole is Chirinos and Reddick is a possible hole in the playoffs as usual but he's a decent player. Whitley is unlikely, but I still like the idea of plugging him at the end if he's ready. More than enough talent to win it all without giving anything up.

It might be, I agree. Different kinds of injuries and the players that have them recover at different rates.

Weird blanket statement to make when injury severity and recovery vary so much.

I've been saying that we can't assume this team will be firing at all cylinders once everyone gets back. I think Springer and Correa should be fine but the type of surgery Altuve had is a very tough surgery on anyone. Yuli isn't the same player.

I still think you need a bat for insurance.

To be fair, Reddick was awful last year but he has been better this year.
