    EDIT:
Just learned (haven't seen) that a new trailer from "Frozen 2" was dropped. Complete coincidence.

I'm just going to say this , having had close family members in the front offices of two different sports (MLB & NFL) and the insight that provided.

Trades just don't drag out like that , aint none of this 2 yard line crap. They either happen or they don't for the most part.
We aren't going to hear about those that didn't happen.

Very little information is leaked. GM's aren't calling agents and telling them ahead of time "I'm considering trading your client. / I almost traded your client" The agents find out after the deals have been approved by the league but before the media so they can notify their client. GM's don't want to deal with the human emotional factors of trades that stalled and players being upset over it.

The only situations that my differ are when players demand a trade - we MIGHT get some useful info on those situations but again , its mostly done behind closed doors between GM's and they aren't going to risk being ostracized over leaking potential trades. Other GM's simply don't want their business out in the street and don't want to deal with those who air the dirty laundry.

If you have to ask if the trade is at the two yard line …. It's probably bullsh!t.

    How about this one?

    http://tradenba.com/trades/HJsSnI6R4

    Celtics In:
    Capelo
    Nene
    Winslow
    Olynyk

    Celtics: Out
2019 own 1st Round pick (they have 3)
    2020 own 2nd Round pick

    Rockets In:
    Hayward
    J. Johnson
    Rockets Out:
    Rockets 2021 first round pick
Rockets 2020 second round pick (Memphis)
    Paul
    Tucker
    Nene
    Capelo

    Heat In:
    Chris Paul
    PJ Tucker
    Celtics 1st
    Rockets 1st
    Celtics 2nd
    Rockets(Memphis) 2nd

The purpose of the trade is to get out of Paul's contract, bring in Hayward whose contract is 1 year less and more tradeable, plus could get back to all-star level, get a perfect fit in J. Johnson

You're correct/you're incorrect. GMs and agents often do work hand-in-glove; getting blindsided can cost an agent a client or a GM a relationship, even a job. And yes, many trades have died 'as time ran out' or 'just short of the goalline' or or or. Some deals even die after the deals were done. And most deals are 'Surprise!' outta the blue. Right, Mr Crabbe? Or Mr Porzingas?

Leakage in 2019? Ask Earvin and Rob, just for starters. I will say that most rumors are planted by agents or GMs or or or for some agenda (and may have no basis in fact beyond whatever the agenda item might have been). And, of course, there are BSers desperate for a click.

    You sound envious.

Why should you care if posters believe him or not it's not like they are being hurt by believing.

It seems if you ignored what codman post you could easily not be annoyed.

    https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2019/06/kylers-latest-celtics-capela-kyrie-sixers-more.html

After reporting earlier this week that the Celtics had “engaged pretty seriously” on Rockets center Clint Capela, Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders has provided a few more details today. Sources tell Kyler that Boston has “expressed considerable interest” in Capela. However, he may be more of a Plan B or C for the Celtics, particularly if they’re still serious about pursuing Anthony Davis.

As Kyler details, league sources are skeptical that the Celtics will keep and use all three of their first-round picks (Nos. 14, 20, and 22). Meanwhile, Houston has been trying to get first-round prospects in for workouts despite not currently holding any draft picks — Kyler writes that the Rockets have been suggesting to agents that they have the ability to acquire a pick in the top 20.

Because it often leads to 6 months of discussion of X player being at the 2 yard line …. with no basis in reality.

Yes , there are those times where GM's and agents work together to find deals - Those are cases are the exception , not the rule as in those cases more often than not the player has stated he wants a move.
Yes , trades have died at the 2 yard line …. but the vast majority of the time , we aren't getting details on those that don't happen. Usually something like "we had a deal on the table , it didn't work out" … leaving us to assume who was involved.

We have at least 3-4 guys on here who claim to be insiders , maybe a couple I'm forgetting …. the odds that any of them are legit are slim and none of them have ever provided a "leak" in their cryptic writings that actually happened (aside from maybe Melo - two years later).

I guess at the very least it gives us topics for conversation … I just don't buy it most of the time and we should probably be skeptical.

    So what?

People have a right to discuss what they want and those discussion are driven by a lot more than what Codman posts, you are assigning a lot of blame to wrong person.
