No thanks. Rivers is just as effective, younger, and much less injury prone. Just resign Rivers. He’ll most likely be a lot cheaper than Beverley. And I love Beverley. He was my favorite Rockets during his last seasons here.
the fact that we're considering bringing back pat (about to be 31) just shows how desperate we've become. literally scraping the bottom of the barrel for players lol. just callin it like i see it..
Would love to have Pat back, but i agree we have other priorities at this point. Realistically though, i don't know who we'll be able to get better than him with the tax MLE, that's just not enough money to get a very good player imo, we will be lucky to sign guys like him or Austin with that money.
2018-2019 season... avg per game... 7.6 PTS... 3.8 AST... 5 RB... 27.4min and turning 31 this year lol.... no thanks
It was his best year health-wise. So more relevant than. He's played in 69% of all potential regular season games in his 6 years - excluding his partial first year. That's a 56 game average. He was inactive for all the 2015 playoffs - 17 games. He's played in 34 games. It's not a great ratio overall.
Bev doesn’t like CP, so CP gone? CP to PHX for Warren and their 2019 frp Gordon to PHI for Butler Bev Harden Butler/Warren PJ Capela Still have a lot to fill out with very little remaining but it’s possible.
I don't think Bev should be a priority (although Bev is one of my all time fav Rockets), but for those once again waving the "doesn't move the needle" flag... consider that the Raptors traded Valanciunas for Gasol in what was considered at the time a marginal improvement for a bigger contract. Marginal improvements matter when competing at the very top. The first 5 games of our series with the Warriors were decided by 6 points or less. The Raptors had to win two 7-game series to get here, and they didn't lock up the title because of 2 points. We're not in a position to make gigantic improvements, nor are we in a position to look down on several marginal improvements. With KD injured and possibly walking next season, we have a great chance of making the Finals even with 3-4 marginally better defensive players and an updated offensive system. Every little bit counts. Would have been nice to have Brandon Knight's expiring contract right now. With Gordon/Capela though, we have to aim to get some more length that can handle, shoot and defend.
Move one has little, heck nothing to do with move two. CP3 to Phoenix for Warren and their pick?? Great!! Not happening but great. Then you just play Harden at PG again. Also way to slip in Butler there, lol
Those are literally PJ's stats as a full-time starter in 34mpg, except Bev's assists are higher. Bev also shot better from the field, from deep, and has a higher TS%. PJ also just turned 34 and was 32 when we signed him. Bringing Bev back certainly wouldn't be a priority for me and I'd only want him back at a decent salary, but PJ's stats and age are much worse and he is fantastic for us.
If the price is the same(i.e. the MLE), I'd rather have Rivers. He's better offensively, pretty damn good at the defensive end, and younger and less injury prone.
Thanks for the insight. Now, how in hey can he be brought back (except by full 'M'LE)? And yes, I'd love having that dude in local duds.
