Iggy is a far superior player than Ariza. Not only is he just as good a defender (probably better), he can dribble penetrate and pass. Ariza is purely a spot up three shooter on offense.

Meh I disagree. Maybe a bit superior but far superior is quite the stretch. Iggy can't shoot. Ariza is probably a better switch defender.

Still Iggy got a far bigger deal

Well, this year Iggy has been shooting pretty well in certain matchups and in the playoffs.

And yeah from long range. Ariza might have shot better overall but when we needed him to make them, he bricked 'em hard.

iggy is far more versatile then ariza. hes easily worth more than ariza. ariza is a 3 pt specialist on offense. that's it. you can plug iggy in a multitude of ways offensively. he can handle the ball, be a threat off the ball, and if you leave him wide open all day he can be respectable and make you pay as obviously proven time and time again.

the rockets were close to poaching him away from GS but they upped the offer in the end.

How is he more versatile? Ariza could guard 1-4 and was a far superior 3pt shooter.

Anyways you guys are missing the point. Ariza would have made us significantly better but feritta cheaped out

it was just mentioned how hes more versatile

im not missing the point. you were comparing the two. that doesn't have anything to do with ariza not making houston better. he did. and hou still wanted to go after iggy because he would of made houston better also.

And how exactly do you figure that? Le's compare the two shall we?
    • Iggy is a former star turned super role player while Ariza has always been purely a 3&D role player
    • Iggy can actually dribble and penetrate (and even pass!) while Ariza can't take more than 2 steps on ISO before losing the ball
    • Last season Iggy shot 37.8% from 3 in the playoffs while Ariza shot 28.6% and on much higher volume
    • This season Iggy shot 33% (37% in the playoffs) from 3pt while Ariza shot 32%
    Now let's talk contracts
    • This year, Iggy has made the most in the last decade at $14.8M (LESS than Ariza)
    • Before this year, he averaged around $12-13M per year
    • Ariza signed for $15M (O.O) this year and before that, averaged $7-8M which is exactly what he is worth
Point is, Ariza is like 70% the player that the older Iggy is and should be paid accordingly. As for Ariza being "probably a better switch defender", how exactly did you come to that conclusion?!?

    70% as good is absurd.

Taking one small sample of iggy shooting better is also absurd. Ariza is the better shooter, there's no denying that.

Iggy is barely ever asked to create anymore. He didn't even play 25 minutes per game where Ariza was a very good starter.

Iggy is a better switch defender? How did you come to that conclusion?

Iggy signed for 3 years $15 mil average per year. One year of Ariza at $15m is completely reasonable

Once they waive Favor's fully non-guaranteed contract by 7/5 Utah would have enough capspace to absorb Paul's salary and make him Rubio's replacement next to Mitchell........just a thought.

    • 70% the player is much, much less absurd than your comments about Ariza, especially that $15M is completely reasonable. That is like next level stupid.
    • Uh... I gave you 3 sufficiently large sample sizes? 1 season (not small) and 2 playoffs (not small considering how deep GSW goes into the playoffs)
    • He isn't asked to create because he plays with Curry, Durant, and Green. He can and still does when he needs to, which anyone watching the series between us and GSW would know.
    • I never said he was or was not the better switch defender. I just said he was a better defender PERIOD. You are the one that stated Ariza was probably a better switch defender without any sort of evidence or logic.
    • Ariza at $15M is NOT reasonable at all. Ariza at $10M would be reasonable. There is a reason that only the Suns (one of the worst orgs in the league) offered that to him.

Can't believe there's still a belief that paying $15 million for Trevor Ariza last summer would have been a sound investment.

Fillers there means to Capela you have to add at least Gordon, at that point the trade becomes:

    Capela and Gordon
    for
    Fournier, 16th pick and Mozgov

Bad trade really, you swap Gordon and Capela with two much worse players, pay more tax, just to get a pick outside of the lottery.

I refuse to relive the mediocre days of a Moochie Norris, Mo Taylor, and Cuttino Mobley-led team... Damn a rebuild!... Damn a CP3 trade... Add a SF and let's roll with it!

Some smoking that good stuff. :D

Either Chris is washed up/declining/waste of $40M (in which why in the hell would any team send over what some of you are demanding)
or he's still got it/he's still key/this was just a down year (so why are you trying to trade him in the first place?)

I think he's closer to one of the 5/10 worst contracts (no, didn't say 5/10 worst players) in the league and if you can get off of it...do it.

If they talking about performing a miracle with a CP3 trade, then surely they can maneuver something for a decent SF.. They're out there...

You were suggesting the Sixers wouldn’t want Chris Paul because it would take the ball out of Simmons’ hands.

Did Chris Paul take the ball out of Harden’s hands? No. Harden had the ball just as much as he ever did.

My point is there is more than enough room for 2 ball-handlers.
