Down 0-2. Going back to the crib. Harden’s Legacy has never been more on the line. Universally known as a choker in the playoffs, harden will have to define his legacy whether he is top 3 SG all time or just another regular season great who chokes in the playoffs.

Now is the time for him to silence his critics. Game 3,4 no matter the stat line will come down to one thing. Did Harden lead his team to victory. That is what separates hierarchies in the NBA. Jordan to Kobe then Kobe to Wade.
The question for the rest of the series is: Is Harden Great?

We’ll have to wait for game 3.

His legacy is pretty much written. It'll just take time for everyone to come around on it.

For some reason Harden legacy is on the line every year even though he's the only one who was one injury away from beating the best team ever

Chris Paul, James Harden, and Mike Dantoni have had stellar careers. Two of them are top 5 in their respective positions and Dantoni has been a winning coach most of his career.

These dudes want to win but if they don’t, they’re not going to trip about it and they shouldn’t. You want to call Harden a choke artist because he’s the only one being asked to bring down the greatest team ever assembled? Lol fine.

I’m happy and chillin knowing we’re the only ****ing team in the league being even tasked to do so.

If we lose, we lose to a team that is one of the greatest of all time. He'll still have time to win a ring (although window is closing for him as the elite player winning a ring).

If we win and then go on to get a ring, then it will define his legacy. There is more upside to winning than there is downside to losing.

Sounds like something Chris Broussard or Max Kellerman or Stephen A. or [pick a ESPN/FS1 blowhard] would say.

let's be honest, beating GS 4 out of 5 times is impossible, not with this team, maybe last year's team can do it, but having harden as our primary superstar will never work in the playoffs, the first 2 games of this series already told enough about Harden, a regular season giant and a playoff Midget, year after year, harden has proved the media right about his choking in the playoffs

I'm sticking up for Harden for playing hard after getting raked in the eyes and bleeding.

Harden's legacy for me is pure, he went from a dude who was somewhat like westbrook who was pure stats, to a true leader of a team.

Win or Lose, Harden has made me proud and he's blown past Tmac and he's on par with Yao for heart.

Show me any other SG or any other hall of Famer was able to beat a team like GS I'll wait.

And no I am not giving harden an excuse.

Harden's legacy is not on the line. He needs to play well, and I'm sure he will--but his legacy is not going to come down to "did he almost single-handedly take down arguably the greatest team ever?" That's absurd. That's not to say his playoff legacy is secure--he's had some high-profile stinkers in addition to some great games, so his legacy is still in flux. But it's not "on the line" in this series.

I tend to agree with the OP. This may not be the be-all, end-all, but it's huge. There will be other years.....but how many more years?

Explain to us where he choked this year, last year, or any other year. The only series you could even possibly classify as choking might be the 2017 SA series. Other than that you’re just a negative moron if you call the guy a “choker”.

Not saying you’re wrong, but the guy has a good 7-8 years left in the league. Why don’t we wait on writing off his legacy.

We lost both games by a grand total of 10 points. The Rockets have to jump on them early, get a lead, and hold it. It'll most likely be a close game once again, so yes, Harden will have to step up late in the game and carry them to victory.
