Big takeaway from yesterday, if it isn’t already obvious

if you’re ice cold from three—keep shooting the 3, but also find other ways to score.

The rockets keep chucking to no end, and they get these big 0-27 , 0-14 or w.e yesterday from 3. It’s a great, but high variance shot. That’s why you get peaks and valleys. Through out the course of the game that is ok, we expect to regress to the mean. But 4th Q time we have a limited # of possessions and really need to get on the score board. It’s no surprise that the most consistent player has been Chris, because he realizes this. The jazz and every other team catches on that the rockets avoid any shot not in the paint or beyond the 3 like a plague and it makes defensive schemes easier. Clog the paint and when they start missing it gets real bad.

Harden should try some pull up 2 point jumpers like Paul does when this happens.

    It was one game.

The Rockets were on the road.

It is very hard to beat a team 6 straight times.

The Jazz are a very competent team.

We're not going to change who we are but... seeing a mid-range drop can help the entire team relax and you might just see the variance adjust accordingly. The who & when of that requires such a great veteran feel which is why it should be CP the designated person to do it.

This has been pointed out numerous times on this board, and yet most people seem to be either delusional or low-iq to even grasp why employing predictable offensive strategy is always a bad idea, no matter how efficient it is. If the 2017 Spurs series didn't wake these people up, there is no hope.

After the Jazz cut loose in the early 4th quarter, it was apparent the Rockets decided they were just going to shoot their way back into it from 3. It wasn't organic. The only person who looked for any offense inside the arc was Paul. Now, if it had worked they'd have quickly gotten themselves back into it because they'd stymied the Jazz on the other end for a little while. But they still had plenty of time. If they'd just kept running their offense, they might have climbed back into it like they had in the first half.

It’s why this team will never win, plain and simple. For the floaters that Harden mastered, he has lost his midrange game apparently. Doesn’t bode well for us.

I would have no problem watching an unselfish Offense sharing the ball fail than ISO to the death but as long as it wins........

Bench scored a total of 5 point

No amount of midrange would have overcame that

There's your game right there... starters played as well minus Capela. Bench didnt show up. Outside of Rivers - House looked like a rookie, Green was streaking in the wrong direction, Faried got out hustled.

    2 things:

-- per DM's tweet obviously the entire organization is aware of tony brothers' impact on our games
-- anyone who's ever played organized ball knows that feeling when obvious missed/wrong calls are made. it can completely get you out of your game and lose focus on the opponent. as fans we're livid, but just imagine what our guys on the court must be going through. that first half was just bullshhit

Rockets shot well from 3 yesterday. Not great, but not bad at all. You'll take 37%.

The embarrassing 35% from the field was what did us in. I'd like to see Paul and Harden work the midrange a little more but I don't think the 3's were the issue last night.

Standard recipe for a Rockets meltdown (going back two decades, so not blaming the personnel specifically):
    >0 bench production
    >less than 22 assists
    >hero ball/chucking

This is how we always lose. The only question is if we have a monkey on our back now, or we shake it off. Either way, I hate to see a game like this so early in the playoffs. That should have been a sweep.

I'd rather Harden shoot a midrange than get stuffed at the rim by Gobert. Rubio playing behind him isn't gonna come block the shot from behind as long as Harden raises up strong.

The Rockets missed their last 12 three point attempts as a team. 0-12 from three. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES!!?!

Maybe 0-27 wasn't as fluky as it appears.

THIS is why people state that the midrange is an extra weapon, instead of a “inefficient “ shot. They are taking away his three, and his layups. Add the midrange, so you can open the others.

Yep, this wasn't some kind of demoralizing loss that proved the Jazz are better, or even our equals.

They're a top-5 team in the Western Conference, yet we managed to beat them like a drum 5 straight times, including 3 playoff games.

If there are no injuries in Game 5, then this Game 4 loss means nothing apart from us getting a bit less rest before Round 2.

I think because they were tired.

We got crushed on the boards; especially the offensive boards. I would have liked to see MDA make an adjustment and give Manimal some more minutes. maybe we wouldn't have given up 52 points in the paint.

ADJUSTMENTS! that's why i just have never felt that MDA is a good x's and o's coach. Sure he's a players coach; gets the most out of his players; he's got a great system. But he doesn't ever make adjustments to mitigate what the other team is doing.
