“I started wearing contacts,” Curry said late Tuesday, pulling his white “Ten in the Town” hat down on his head, creating an awning for his beaming eyes. “No, I’m serious.”

For all of his career, his life even, Curry has had issues with his eyes. He said he has a condition called Keratoconus, known in the ophthalmology field as KC. Technically, it’s an eye disease in which the cornea, normally a circle, progressively thins and takes on a cone shape. This distortion has given Curry what is known as an astigmatism, which is a type of error in the way the light bends when entering the eye. It doesn’t distribute the light equally to the retina and leads to blurred or distorted vision. It’s a genetic condition Curry was probably born with, though scientists don’t know how it is acquired.

“It’s exactly that,” Curry said when asked if he feels like he has new eyes. “It’s like the whole world has opened up.”

    Lord have mercy.

Eh, as much as I'd like to pile on the guy, it isn't his fault news outlets want to make the smallest story about him into a page one piece. This isn't news, much like it isn't news that MJ had dyslexia or ADHD (I can't remember which and don't really care).

I play without glasses during pickup games all the time and don't necessarily need my glasses, if it's a little astigmatism (like me) he should be and should have been fine without contacts.

The rest of the time I keep them on because I'm either; driving, working from my computer monitor, watching TV, or reading. That's probably where he'll notice the biggest difference.

I need to understand how a grown ass man worth millions, who also has his own medical staff, only NOW realized he needed special contacts for astigmatism??

Your astigmatism is much different than Curry's. He has keratoconus which makes his eye shape all weird.

It's surprising he's gone this long without being well-corrected. Sports teams have eye doctors. They should have easily identified any issues before this.

    Different name, same issue.

You get blurred vision because your eye is shaped differently. His is just shaped in a different fashion than mine.

Ultimately, same issue and same result.

    Whatever.

If his vision was bothering him in the past, he would have addressed it. I think it is cute that the article acts like an astigmatism is some rare condition.

Keratoconus is worse than regular astigmatism. Trust me.

I'm sure a lot players look blurry when your defense allows players to blow past you.

I agree with this, but I don't know if it's for the same reason.
