That team went from 65 wins to projected 53 wins. What is the reasons of the decline and the fall?
    Games play (2019 projected)
    Harden
    Last year 72
    This year 78
    Capela
    Last year 74
    This year 67

Gordon (69) and Paul (58) are about the same.

    Positive view:
Three-year plan to move from 65 wins to 60 if House, Rivers and Faried all stay in July.
It will be off-season turnaround that showed Morey's ability to see roster construction at an advanced level this summer?
    Negative view:
Three-year plan to move from 65 wins to 45 if House, Rivers and Faried all walk for nothing?
In the NBA, the decline and the fall of the West is coming quicker than you think.

This has been discussed to exhaustion in many threads.

I don't see why this is an exception and I.D.I.O.T.

We were playing James Ennis, Carmelo Anthony and Michael Carter Williams meaningful minutes..and we sucked.

We stopped playing them, and we got better.

    • Wing D
    • Rebounding
    • Early-on: freedom of movement, Melo, bench consistency, rotation certainty, depth

Previous discussion was starters miss a lot of games according to most posters. Now I think that is not the real reason. Does that make sense?

Next season there is a chance to move from 65 wins to 45 wins.

Because winning 60+ games is hard. I think people take for granted how good the team last year was.

Chris began the season injured, plus he’s declining.

Sh1tty role players to begin the season.

    Clint got injured.

Rockets were likely complacent to begin the season, thus didn’t play hard.

    Injuries.
    Roster maneuvering.
It's ****ing hard to win 65 games.

paul injury and declining are not the reason, this is the reason I start this thread.

Harden and Capela improve to offset Gordon/Paul declining.

Paul plays about 58 games each season.

    Last 3 years
    61
    58
    58 projected

    CP3 is worse

EG was garbage offensively for like half the season

    defense was garbage until ASB

defensive rebounding is at the bottom of the league after being near the top last year

started the year off giving multiple bonafide scrubs like Melo, MCW, and Ennis rotation minutes

I’m sure I’m probably missing a few more things

You’re making it sound like there’s only ONE reason for the drop-off.

Harden’s improving 6 PPG doesn’t offset Gordon or Paul.... well, maybe Gordon.

I am satisfied with Paul. He is 34 in a month and plays 33 minutes a game. He is 16 and 8 guy with average defense.

Reason is simple, a lot of guys needed new contract last season.

    They're the #3 seed now.

They started the first few months out of the playoffs.

How is that not the reason?

This team is a 55-60 win team, both last year and this. However...

Last year, we played about 5 wins over our heads.

This year, we played about 5 wins under.

45 wins? Not unless Harden, CP3, Capela or PJ misses signature time with an injury.

Starters play the same number of games compared to last year, which means injury is not the main reason.
