Signing big name players (who opposing offenses have no issues working around) to extensions when you have more important issues is actually a sound strategy on the Texans part. I was worried we were gonna lock him in.What's the point in paying for 2 pass rushers when offenses can completely neutralize them with short passes. Of course they are the Texans, so they will blow the picks and use the money they save rounding out a 9-7 roster, but in itself trading Clowney is smart.
A better perspective? Is this the same failure of perspective that BOB/Devlin/Gaine had last offseason? Is doing what's necessary to protect DW4 overpaying? It's not like they dont have the cap space. It's like they're trying to win the cap space championship (I will call this the Olsen instead of the Lombardi) instead of trying to win a SB. (Lombardi)
They know these guys better than you and me; they obviously have a lot of faith in them - or are blindingly bad at talent evaluation. If you don't achieve the goal of protecting him, yes. And, again - I will remind you and anyone else who might be reading: it takes two to tango. The Texans have to want the player *and* the player has to want to play for the Texans.
I wish the Texans would stop worrying about the oilers colors and history and start tryna make history for the Texans
I had Howard on my fantasy team last season. He only played like 30% of snaps and he’s not involved in the passing game.
