Sad to see our guys bust their short tails play after play to try to get defensive rebounds and stop tall muscular players from bullying them around the basket to no avail. JV and Demarcus Cousins absolutely made Capela their b**** and nobody else could do a thing about it. It doesn’t matter if it would’ve been Robin Lopez, Deandre Jordan, Marc Gasol, Enes Kanter, etc. but Morey chose (as he does each year) to stick with small ball and acquire undersized forwards. That wasted first round pick for Shumpert could have certainly gotten us a backup big. Another wasted year of Harden’s prime......

The problem is MDA would play our backup C or not.

    MDA loves his midgets lineup.

They should have gotten someone as soon as Capela went down.

But noooo we got another PF Faried and prayed Nene turned back the clock.

The Shumpert trade is looking more and more ridiculous as each day goes by.

We should have blasted this years MLE mid-season on Bogut and House. We honestly should have the #1 seed and we would never have been in this situation that we are in now.

don't worry, we're gonna get a terrific free agent this summer though. we won't have any draft picks and we gave up our trade chips, but we're going to get a great roster addition. for the vet minimum

Amen brother....anyone with bulk who could help us avoid bully ball. Golden State gets it and that is why the breed the success that we can only dream about.

I think the regular season is already a success with the way things turned out after being 13th or whatever seed once.

I get that ppl want more but I think this might or might not be enough. Depending on Harden, Defense and Rebounding.

We are barely getting by, sure, we play GSW tougher than anybody but we are always one or two injuries away from getting kicked to the curb.

If you dun rest Harden, this would be a huge risk there.

This year it won’t be injuries that beat us....it will be Demarcus Cousins (Looney and Bogut). GS found our Kryponite. They added Bogut after they saw how Cousins dominated Capela without Durant even playing. They figured us out and there is nothing we can do at this point to adjust.

    It's about a mindset...

everytime I've mentioned needing a bu conventional center with some bulk to better matchup against teams with a bigger front court... I get the same reply - "they would be unplayable against GSW..."

as if GSW is the only matchup that matters...

and as if we couldnt carry a couple situational guys on the roster that arent strictly intended to matchup against GSW - as if we play our whole roster nightly...

but then again, I get told that big men are dead in todays NBA... which means a dead man just dropped 33 pts and 15 boards on us tonight....

    ...so theres that...

I think the major issue i how the REFS call the game
Last game JV literally could do whatever on one end
and was not allowed to be touched on the other

    Refs limited Capela
Which is something he will have to learn to overcome

Nah. It's because Capela is not playing well. Nene and Faried are sufficient backup C's.

Capela will bounce back. He doesn't have any spring in his step since he's been back. Used to go up and grab rebounds more. Used to make quick moves inside against bigger players. Used to be more decisive as a help defender.

It's good he's been abused by two big C's. Better now than in the playoffs. He will learn from it.

Marc Gasol would have been really nice. Not sure if we had a chance of getting him this year.

He would have helped solve our defensive rebounding problems. Monster blockout guy.

Don't worry about it. The most important thing is we got under the luxury tax threshold so Tilman doesn't have to pay the repeater tax 3 years from now. That's what all the wannabe cap gurus around here think you should be most concerned about. Now just be happy that Tilman saved some cash. Nothing to see here.

But yeah, you are right. We need a big bruiser type of Center who can come in and bully guys around for limited minutes when Capela is getting pushed around. Someone who can sub in and grab the game winning rebound or dish out some hard fouls when the other team is getting too comfortable in the paint. Bogut would have been perfect for that role.

You are also right about House. He was playing well and they sent him down to save Tilman money. That move didn't help the team at all. I'm not sure how many extra wins House would have produced but at the minimum it would have helped the team cohesion. The longer these guys play together as a unit the better they can function.

Anyway, it was just one loss and we are still OK. Nene and Faried can get the job done in the playoffs because there won't be back to backs. For a long grueling season you need some extra help so you can get a better seed. That's essentially what Tilman sacrificed to save cash.
