Yeah that’s not what he said. Saying you support a women’s right to choose is not the same as saying you support killing a baby right before or after birth. At worst he’s avoiding the question. FYI the third term abortion crap from the Right is insane. Its an outlier extreme situation you guys use to justify all abortion discussions. I know you will probably not take my response seriously but I’m going to say it regardless for the other people here. I personally had a situation where about halfway in our pregnancy my wife had a medical emergency and almost lost her life. The doctors told me that there might need to be a decision made where we will have to have brain surgery on my wife but we might need to terminate the pregnancy given that her body couldn’t handle it because of something with the blood. I’m sooo greatful that it didn’t come to that (and my little one is awesome and my wife is doing well) BUT ... I wouid never .... NEVER want the doctor to come in the room and say this person we cannot save because Donald F-ing Trump passed a law that mandates I cannot perform this surgery. Abortion is the most personal decision a woman and YES sometimes a husband might have to make and no person takes that lightly. These right wing extreme scenarios used to get shock factor politics hits on the Internet are bullshit.
The fact that Beto has republicans so rattled has me intrigued. I didn't really view him as a realistic candidate beforehand, even if I do personally like him a lot more than the socialists. He just jumped in the race and they put on a full court press. You can learn a lot by reactions as to who they view as a legitimate threat. There are no independents anymore, at least not for this election. At this point anybody still supporting Trump is ride or die, there aren't voters to be won away from him. This is strictly about the crybaby democrats voting instead of pouting when their guy doesn't get chosen.
I know you want him to continue serving as mayor for the great city of El Paso, but you've got to let him go.
Welcome to the dumbest scandal we’ll hear about for the next year with misleading headlines. Beto was 15.... yes 15 when he was in a “hacker group”. He also wrote weird poetry. You know why.... because he was 15. When I was 15 I listening to a ton of bands like rage against the machine and being around the same age as Beto, it makes total sense that at that time, being in a hacker group would have been cool as hell. Now in 2019, hacking is a legit crime because of why people hack now. Back in the 90’s we had a movie literally called “Hackers” that glorified the trade. There was also this Ryan Phillipe hacker movie I thought was awesome too. In the 90’s nobody was hacking to steal elections in favor of dictators. It wasn’t about hurting the everyday man and manipulating vulnerable people. It was a culture of anti establishment innovation. A way to use your youth and smarts to expose truth and justice. Or at least that’s how it was represented at the time that wouid have influenced a 15 year old watching Angelina Jolie in Hackers. So someone needs to retell this Beto as a 15 year old hacker scandal with some context and clarity. This is being presented as a scandal that it really wasn’t at the time. It actually makes him more relatable to someone around my age like me.
I think you missed the forest due to all the trees being in the way on this one. Yes he did it when he was young and stupid but that is not the issue. The issue is the media had this story for a couple of years yet sat on it until now.
After more than a year of reporting, Menn persuaded O’Rourke to talk on the record. In an interview in late 2017, O’Rourke acknowledged that he was a member of the group, on the understanding that the information would not be made public until after his Senate race against Ted Cruz in November 2018. In an interview with Reuters senior producer Jane Lee, Menn explains how he broke the story and got O’Rourke to open up about his hacking days. “I decided to write a book about the Cult of the Dead Cow because they were the most interesting and influential hacking group in history. They illustrated a lot of the things that I think are fascinating about hacking and security work. “While I was looking into the Cult of the Dead Cow, I found out that they had a member who was sitting in Congress. I didn’t know which one. But I knew that they had a member of Congress. “And then I figured out which one it was. And the members of the group wouldn’t talk to me about who it was. They wouldn’t confirm that it was this person unless I promised that I wouldn’t write about it until after the November election. That’s because the member of Congress had decided to run for Senate. Beto O’Rourke is who it was. ___ Maybe they sat on it because their reputation depended on it. "Off the record" is an actual thing, guys.
Do you think they would of sat on the story if Ted Cruz was found to be a teen hacker until after the 2018 election? It is quite obvious this was withheld during the Senate race for political reasons. It was released now for political reasons. Much of the the media is no longer here just to report the news rather they manipulate it with purposeful omissions, misleading headlines, etc....
Are you just as upset that Fox News sat on the story about President Trump paying off the p*rn star he had an affair with after his wife had given birth to their newborn son?
Them sitting on this story is actually a different situation than the Trump stories. This was a guy writing a book that scored an interview with conditions. He didn't uncover the information and hold it back to help Beto, he got the interview FROM Beto with stipulations. You should be more outraged about Trump's buddies burying stories and paying people off to lie.
