I'm not advocating they do nothing; I'm merely pointing out that the costs have been astronomical for players that, while maybe an upgrade, are not appreciably great, and, generally, the kind of players that can send you to salary cap hell. Sure; via trade and with the Tigers paying ~30% of his salary. But there are no "best of his generation" players in this free agency (other than Bell). There are a lot of average/good players.
Offensive Tackle, Offensive Tackle, Offensive Tackle..........it is really not that hard, get an Offensive Tackle. An Offensive Tackle, like on the Offensive Line, like someone to keep DW alive. An Offensive Tackle, a really, really good one, break the bank but get one.
You're right, there's no Verlander in this FA; I think most fans would be satisfied with no FA activity if there were a couple of trades. Most of us were excited about the Demariyus Thomas trade last season. You're right. But Thomas is gone now. With the absence of a "best of his generation" and the absence of trades, the Astros still brought in Reddick and Beltran. A lot of us, myself included, thought Beltran's contract was too much at this age but it definitely paid off in the end. Astros also made a bold move going after Osuna. I didn't like that trade and I don't see the Texans doing something like that.
Exactly. The Texans have to improve on the OL, or their very best investment is gonna get hurt. It would be difficult for the Texans to overpay to address this need, honestly...that's how glaring it is.
The OT list ain't pretty http://walterfootball.com/freeagents2019OT.php Just for reference Kendall Lamm is #10 on the list
On July 28, 2018 during training camp, Williams was carted off the field with an apparent knee injury. It was later revealed that day that Williams dislocated his right kneecap and tore his MCL. Despite the injury, Williams started in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, however left the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury. It was confirmed that Williams had re-injured his right knee and would be sidelined indefinitely. He was then placed on injured reserve on September 12, 2018 after deciding to undergo knee surgery. Edit: Pretty damn crazy how they had him back out there after MCL Tear and Dislocated Kneecap. 5 weeks later he is out for the year.
You know what is going to be really funny...err.."texans"... When Foreman never comes back to form, and Miller leaves in free agency.. But yea, Bell at 13 mil was too much and too crazy....
