I say stew. I say yes. But what is a gyro, and the like? It's not a wrap, it's not between 2 slices of bread...
You guys are crackin' me up! Now I'm going to have to make some soup or stew or some damn thing. Anyone have good recipes for soup or stew? My late mother made incredible stew. I've tried numerous times to duplicate it and failed. :-(
We just did a proper thread on posole, look it up. You want gumbo? I can give you gumbo (which is a soup, not a stew). I posted my personal favorite tortilla soup recipe on here recently, look it up. This is prime soup/stew weather right now, fo sho.
Great idea! I'm hitting my local pho joint tomorrow. Or should I hit the other place for tom kha gai?
Thanks for the tip. I'd love seeing a gumbo recipe, being a fan. My brother-in-law is a Cajun who makes a mean seafood gumbo and has the roux down pat. I need to get his recipe while he can still remember it. The guy's 80 now. ;-) Defintely agree that this is the right time of year for soup or stew, although gumbo is "in season" all year round.
The ones I use are from the older version of this, with a few tweaks: amazon.com/New-Orleans-Cookbook-Rima-Collin/dp/0394752759 I'll transcribe or scan some stuff if you're interested, once I get to the house where that book lives.
