"you lie". lol at you trumpublicans getting upset at AOC b/c she is not blindly applauding everything your god trump says. did you get this triggered when joe wilson yelled "you lie" at obama during his speech?
this is awesome, a second-by-second play by play of the 2:30 minutes of the Dem women standing ovation. Better than Players Only on TNT https://althouse.blogspot.com/2019/02/the-democratic-women-dressed-in-white.html
The women applauding moment was classic. The layers of amusement are grand. 1) Trump talking about new jobs in America benefiting women and a handful of the Dems catching it and starting a reaction of "yeah we took those jobs lol!" kind of response. That was HILARIOUS and it clearly amused President Trump. He didn't expect it and he knew it was well played. 2) The congrats on the largest female representation in Congress ever is just...I don't know...self ownage? It's the largest female representation ever because swing districts around the country rejected Trump. It's just a weird moment.
Maybe I missed it (I was working, listening, and helping my daughter on a paper), but at any point did trump mention the deficit or cutting spending/balancing the budget? Seemed if anything, he spoke to new spending (cancer research, AIDs research, the wall) and tax cuts.
I voted for her and will vote for her assuming she runs against David Perdue, but I don't find her likable. Sentiment for her potentially being the first black woman to become a Governor and anti-Trump sentiment drove a good deal of the support for her.
Interesting. As someone in Georgia, I would defer to your knowledge of her... as I am basing only on interview clips, articles and others. She seems upbeat despite what happened in the election and has a impressive personal story, but obviously I don't know much more and haven't heard her as well as someone as well as Texas politicians. Curious as to why she isn't likable?
Yeah my exposure to her is limited to like 2 speeches and 2 interviews and then just general news coverage. I don't know much about her. She comes across pretty likeable with a real positive energy. Maybe that's just a small sample size issue though. I thought that was the best response to a state of the union I remember seeing. Not because I agreed with her but because she didn't come across as incompetent, a weirdo, scared to death, boring, etc. like all the rest of them lol.
It's hard to argue with Trump's speech version of immigration proposal, too bad it's not really what he wants. If he really wanted more people coming in than ever before...just legally...we'd already have a deal AND he'd have a wall. Every immigration proposal he's wanted has required restricting LEGAL immigration on top of the wall and everything else he wants. The rest of it? Puff. Abolish aids! End childhood cancer! Yeah ok, sign us all up. The paid family leave one is the biggest joke. His daughter has pushed for a version of that and he's never stood behind it and it will never be voted on in the Senate.
