Will more ever get harden a young star??? $40mill gone to CP3 for 4 yrs, who will probably only play half a season each year & last his prime.
It really isn't that easy. Without good, young tradeable assets, nobody is even going to engage in a conversation with you about their young stars. And we simply don't have cap space to outright SIGN one in free agency either. Morey getting CP3 was absolutely brilliant, and anybody saying otherwise now is just using revisionist history to make their point.
Morey wheeling and dealin asset is great, it's his drafting ability especially in the 1st draft is quite worrisome.
Take a look at Morey's recent resume -Signed Joe Johnson (bust) -Signed Michael Carter Williams (bust, dumped in a trade) -Signed James Ennis (bust, dumped at the trade deadline) -Signed Carmelo Anthony (bust, sent home 15 games in) -Traded Melton and Ryno for Chriss and Knight (busts, traded our own 1st round pick just to dump these guys at the deadline) -Gave glorified role player CP3 a franchise crippling contract that is assuredly going to waste Harden's prime LOL, garbage.
But he is a genius because he commands shooting 3 ball lol gtfo Daryl you wasted Yao and Tmac i hope you wont waste Harden
Morey is not the problem. The problem is that there is an Historic Juggernaut of a team called Warriors. Morey could either wait on the sideline and wait for the Warriors to decline or find a way to compete. Morey decided to compete and given the situation, the only way to have done that was to 'up' the risk profile. He took a gamble on Chris Paul, a great but injury prone star, and in doing so came very close to winning a championship. Winning it all last season would have justified sucking for the next 5 years. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked out to this point, but there's still nearly half a season to go...
People here actually trust him to rebuild. He will have a roster full of 6'6 power forwards from Kentucky.
It's easy to scrutinize decisions that don't pan out but one can point out to great ones... Harden (he traded peanuts to get him), Trevor Ariza, Luc, Tuck, Rivers,Gordon...All Discounts!!!
Same thing every year. Talks about huge free agent signings in the summer. Talks about huge all star player trades during the season. Talks about huge all star trades at the trade deadline. Talks about buyouts after the deadline. Then we end up with someone like Joe Johnson. Repeat it all the following year. Lol I never get my hopes up for trades or free agents any more. I have never said this before, but it might be time for Morey to go. He’s been sailing this ship since CD was here. He had a good coach in Adelman. Let him go for McFail. Then kept JB around too long. Now it’s a gimmick offense with no defense from DanTony. In hindsight, I think Morey’s window closed last year too. It sucks.
Or just people that without their homer glasses can see things as they really are - BAD. Good for Daryl center market was dried up because i know he would have lost Capela too
i think he sees the writing on the wall as well. he's probably harder on himself than this board is. certainly harder than the Morey is God crew that dominates this forum. his recent failures coupled with having to deal w/ the cheapest owner in the league might just make him resign after our playoff run
