We had this guy? Bruno Caboclo Is Finally Ready For The NBA https://www.ridiculousupside.com/20...-raptors-raptors-905-rio-grande-valley-vipers
It's gonna be tough to find someone, we don't have any mid-tier kinda assets. We dont have our 2nd rounder this year and next year we've got the less favourable of ours or Golden States, so it's almost guaranteed to be in the high 50s. Is that enough to get someone like a Dwayne Dedmon? I think the asking price is gonna be higher, Memphis traded their 2019 and 2020 picks for Justin Holiday, and that's the same kind of premise - trading for a vet on an expiring contract from a tanking team with no use for him.
I wanted Reed too until someone showed me this: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cb...-reed-out-for-season-with-shoulder-issue/amp/ He is out for the year and off the table. Our options for a legit back up 5 are dwindling.
Bruno is ready and already here (g league leader—> if that doesn’t matter then way have the Vipers?). He knows it is now or never for his career. His cost is more than budget friendly. Bringing him and Hartenstein up from the valley would be the least the front office could do. They would bring energy and size. It’s the Harden Show anyway, let these two play off of him and find success. Harden needs a little help and that is all they bring for now, little. IMO, with time & trust they will be be depth we lack.
Woopss.... Another athletic center from the D-League? Caboclo is not a center and it was shown at the preseason.
The short answer is …. the luxury tax. The desire is to ship the contract to some other team who then cuts him …. then the Rockets aren't on the hook for it at the end of the league year when the tax bill comes due. Basically they'll throw it in as salary filler on a deal or package it with a protected 2nd which may or may not convey. Cut him and its cemented into the books instead of being able to rid yourself of the contract before the end of the league year where taxes are calculated.
Morey is out of mind. He thinks we can win games with 5 midgets on the court. Thats crazy. Other teams can easily beat us with dunking again and again.
Everything has pointed to cost cutting from the beginning when Morey told Ariza he probably wouldn't be back to the mess with House and everything in between. Everything has been about the "Luxury Tax". Just watch the MLE go unused …. Harden and 4 dudes from the YMCA.
It's a combination of things. 1) Luxury tax concerns are very much limiting this team. All the sunshine and lollipops in the offseason about how we were being paranoid if we though there was a spending issue have disappeared. The Rockets aren't going to be the Warriors or Thunder and just spend spend spend. 2) Assets, we ain't got em. Take a guy like Richaun Holmes. We could acquire him without sending any salary back and he's on a minimum deal so the luxury tax implications would be insignificant. But what the hell will we offer PHX? We don't even have a second round pick.

Man would I love for us to be able to get our hands on Bam Adebayo somehow. But the Heat would be more likely to dump Whiteside's contract than trading their young stud, waiting in the wings.
I'd be happy if we just got a rim runner for Harden Defensively we would still be suspect but at least he wouldn't have to try so hard on offense We really need to give PJ some more breathers too He's gonna be done come post season
it's was painful to see that the Nets out rebounding and driving to the lane with ease. Anyone with height, we get at least a few more boards.
several days have now passed since the capela news. looks like management isn't going to do anything, basically writing this season off.
