What was the name of the DC before Hermann/Orlando? I liked him a lot. Heard he interviewed for DC with us.
Gibbs. Went to TTU with Kingsbury. Hoping he comes back. Seemed like he really wanted to stay when Herman was hired.
I don't think he is really all that happy at West Virginia. He seems to want an extension and the brass there doesn't seem to be willing to give it to him There are also some other reasons 1. He has spoke fondly in the past about how much he enjoyed working at UH. I have heard from a poster on another board that when he left for Okla St the alum told him you would be crazy not to take the money they are offering you, but I would love to see you come back one day and Holgerson said me too. 2. He has a house in Houston 3, He is friends with Fertitta which might be the most important fact in this whole thing This tweet of him partying at Tillman's house a couple years ago.
Is anyone familiar with Pete Thamel? I just read his piece on UH/ admistration/Fertitta//AD. It was a total hit job and slap in the face to anyone who cares at all about the UH football program. He is a Yahoo sportswriter who came there after previously working at Sports Illustrated. I am just wondering where he went to college etc. If I knew how to download the piece here I would but it was anything but kind to UH. Seems that he disagrees with the UH administrators taking steps to get rid of Applewhite. Edited to add: He went to Syracuse. Not being from this part of the country he knows nothing about what he is talking about. Just a cheap shot. I hope Applewhite ends up being the next head coach of Syracuse so he can have a taste of the disappointment we have had to endure since Tom Herman left.
Thamel has no clue. Obviously, Khatour has been one of the biggest human assets in school history. It’s fair to say she and Tilman made a mistake with Applewhite. It was understandable that they wanted a continuity hire after Herman, but Applewhite is no Herman. The fact that he has opened the world’s eyes to this with two weak seasons and three bowl losses (one historic!) is why he’s now twisting in the wind. In no way does that make Houston a laughingstock or someplace good coaches avoid. “Continuity” was a nice try. Need to go back to hiring the next hotshot every three years. Just embrace it. That’s how you avoid turds like Levine and Appleshite.
Yep. It's official. Hope they get the right HC this time. Please not another rental. There has to be someone that can recruit and coach and be loyal to the football program out there .
A coached named Dana, from a college that starts with a W, to replace a fired coach with a winning season?
http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...uston-cougars-fire-major-applewhite-2-seasons If a coach goes 10-2 they will probably leave UH unless UH wants to pay 5 mil or whatever the big time college programs pay.
