Some forking morons started an (Official) Zhou Qi Appreciation Thread and use Google translate and thought they are funny to make such stupid racist joke.
As a chinese, i'd like to offer you some accurate translation, for free. Zhou Qi Appreciation Thread = "周琦感谢专楼” It's right, and wrong to translate "thread" into "线程”, “线程” means the smallest sequence of programmed instructions in IT system, which definitely is not what you try to say here.
OP could sure clear up a lot of misunderstanding by changing the thread title to the more traditional [OFFICIAL] Player X Appreciation Thread
Explain why would Chinese consider western people saying “Ching Chong” will be racist? When you have no idea why you are writing and don’t care but just use it for fun, that’s no appropriate. I will give OP the benefit of the doubt if this is a serious player appreciation thread, but when he use the words Joe Cheese and clearly just want to make fun of a scrub player, it’s just stupid to use language he has no idea about to try to be cute.
I am not going to engage in this too much... but when I make efforts to use Spanish or ASL, there is a good faith effort but chances are that I messed up. I am thankful that no one misinterpreted as me trying to offend or mock anyone. But again... intent matters, and I was trying to make a good faith effort.
This thread is as cringeworthy as holic still to this exact second thinking Zhou is better than Capela.
As a fellow Asian person, is this really the kind of stuff that would get you tilted? Growing up Chinese in New York, I had to deal with actual TERRIBLE **** that I needed to fight my way through, even if I had no damn chance of winning. There is real racism out there, I don't think anyone would disagree. This ain't it. And to use your analogy, this isn't even equivalent to a "western" dude saying ching chong. It's completely innocuous. I'm not going to pretend to know your life, but if you've dealt with real, hateful racism, then I don't think you'd be wasting your time and anger on stuff like this(and making accusations about other people that clearly did not have bad intentions). I won't tell you how to lead your life, but clearly you've had a more privileged one than mine. OK, no more off topic **** from me.
