Trevor knew that Tillman is cheap all along. Robert Sarver is less cheap than Tillman

Poor Ariza, couldn’t show his face here again after going 0-9 from 3 in game 7.
The guy is too hard on himself.....

I bet someone criticized Ariza after his 0-17 or whatever awful score of shooting in the WCF and he wasn't amused about it.

There had to be some locker room issues, or Ariza mad at the FO. No other explanation.

But why would you **** em if they don't wanna....ah, never mind.

Yeah, after all the free agent pitches where the Rockets were a close second ("I was really impressed by the Rockets....but not enough to sign there"), he probably has Spidey-sense when it comes to these things.

So you are saying 'everything' is explained in this thread and 'nothing' is left for interpretation?

Either Morey or Mike said in an interview that they all knew for the money he was going to command combined with Chris and Clint’s extensions that he wasn’t coming back to Houston.

    Wasn’t ill will or anything.

Exactly right. Ariza has a very good reputation around the league, and among fans as being a great leader and good teammate. This decision being about his financial future doesn't impact what people think about him whatsoever, so for him to take the $15M and run was the smart decision presently, and for his future. He has a ring, he's still regarded as someone you absolutely want on your team, and his legacy isn't tarnished in the process of him getting his money. Win-win situation for him, IMO.

How could they do that if it’s against NBA rules to talk to FAs before July 1st. Incumbent teams don’t need to break the rules, but you expect a conversation ... that’s why this is news.

Keep in mind our negotiations were going to include Paul giving a discount to keep Ariza, if needed... Paul leaked that.

Let’s just make things up wrt major free agency talks starti g before they are legal, yet that’s why everyone rushes to call at midnight or visit in person.

I find it hilarious that Chris Paul was anywhere around to 'talk' to Ariza after gutting the team for 160Ms, further comedy ensues when these 'teammates' want Ariza to take less money while everyone else is getting broke off? Is Ariza the bad guy? LOL no way.

Get you money dog, go where they want you.

Honestly having trouble understanding what exactly you are trying to articulate, but yes, the incumbent team is afforded the opportunity to have general discussions directly with players prior to free agency happening. It happens every year and will continue to happen. They gauge each other and figure out what to do when they are allowed to talk actual figures.

Ariza's agent most likely worked the phones with every team prior to 12AM on Free Agency, because that's what an agent is paid to do. The agents act as a liaison for the 29 teams in the NBA that are not allowed to have discussions and the agent works both sides.

If you watch the video Shams says the Rockets were denied a meeting after coming to an agreement with the Suns. MDA was on the record of saying he knew Trevor was going to get paid and he told him to go get paid.
