The notion you think Cruz will stay healthy and can play 1B/LF not just DH is ludicrous.
Cruz age scares people. Look at Morton, they didnt wanna offer him the money Tampa did why? AGE.
CASTELLANOS is only 26 with a crappy ball club. So think about youth not age.

Hince the reason no Grienke and possibly we will lose Verlander

I fully expect Cruz to be a DH only, with the only LF/1B being in the WS.

Luhnow has already said Verlander will be gone. It’s not age, it’s risk/reward/cost. Cruz is worth every bit of 1 year and 24 mil.

    A 38 year old DH isn’t a big risk.

1 yr 24m. Omg no way.

    Rather pay 1yr 10
Castellanos could resign and you have a spot OFer and DH. Dude would take and a ball club like the Astros

I’d rather stick Jake out there full-time then put Nick on our team. Yuck.

Bregs has a short swing, Tucker has a long swing I can see why he thinks what he thinks. Hopefully Tucker can make adjustments like Bregs did.

Would be alright if Jake from state farm could hit for avg. But since no I'd trade him or cut him. Straw is cheaper and has a better bat.
Nick is a beast with the bat. You make him DH and spot the Lf and Rf and possibly teach him 1B he might be a steal

“Beast” is an oversell. And he’s a defensive liability.

I think we are going to sit pat at C. Unlikely to sign Grandal or trade for Realmuto.

I think this signing improves the team's chances of making a trade for Realmuto. With one less suitor, the asking price for the Marlins should come down.

Marlins are the real losers imo. No one is going to pay their asking price.

Yep. Nobody is going to trade for Realmuto. Maybe next year.

I have never seen anything about Luhnow saying Verlander will not be an Astro after this season. Can you link to that article?

He didn't say he won't be an Astro. He said he will be hitting free agency next year.

"...he's gonna pitch for us all this year and then he got a chance to go back into free agency and even in his mid-30s, he might get a long deal because he's so dominant right now."
