I'm just going to pat myself on the back, and say that the team has done just what I said it needed to do. This was post #4 in this thread. Way to stay optimistic @Daddy Long Legs During the 6 game streak, we're outscoring our opponents 84-26 in the first half. The concentration penalties, while still there (especially on defense) are cut way down. Watson has had way less turnovers, and I'm almost positive our turnover differential is the best in the league. Suddenly things are looking up.
This thread is unbreakable. Texans have been snatching victory from the jaws of defeat solely due to the powers of @Daddy Long Legs
Anybody here remember the 1993 Oilers season when they started 1-4 and won the next 11 in a row to end the season at 12-4? Wouldn't it be awesome if the Texans can win out and end the season at 13-3.
Probably the best shot we ever had at a SB. Couldn’t beat 50 yr old Montana in the dome. That game hurt more than the Buffalo game in my opinion.
Indeed it did. Considering the year we had; starting 1-4, winning 11 straight, Jeff Alm's suicide. We could have played the Cowboys had we made it to the Superbowl.
Pancakes was on talking about this team. I think the oilers defense knocked out like 8 starting QBs that year. One weird ass season.
they have exceeded the projected wins by some local pundits, 5-11 was a very popular projection even with the 'easy' schedule.
The run and shoot died that day.... was fully exposed with the inability to block exotic blitz packages that were away from the RB. During the course of the season, there's not much you can do to fully prepare for it... but for one single game, a great defensive mind can scheme the hell out of that system. Moon also probably was concussed earlier on and nobody back then really recognized it.
Its also funny to see how people are upset about the team not blowing teams out these games, and that's why this is all luck and smoke/mirrors... if that's the case, then they're really "better" than what they're showing? Just very contradictory. This team is far from perfect... but they do play hard each week, they have a good core nucleus of guys who get along, and there doesn't seem to be much internal dysfunction from an individual or specific side of the football. You can win a lot of games in the NFL just by being a cohesive team on the same page... let alone one with talent/special players/dominant performances.
Interesting side note to that...at the very same time the Rockets were in their stretch of going 15-0 to start a season. At the time, December of 1993 was the first time in pro sports history that a city had 2 teams go undefeated for an entire month. I don't know if that's still the case or if some other city has matched the feat by now.
That Oilers team was exceptionally talented and the only thing that could stop them was themselves..... and that is exactly what happened.
