Wasnt a scrub but definately overrated.

He was useless against the Jazz. If he had stepped up, we would have beaten them. Instead we lost in 7 games with 7th game at home.

Ariza is better than Battier. True story.

This is such a ridiculous post.

Chuck Hayes, Capela, Lowry, Rafer, Rockets version of Artest? What...

Put down the bong. You hit it too hard.

I will agree that Mad Max, Super Mario, T-Mac, Horry, Ariza, and Mbah a Moute are probably at a comparable level or better than Battier.

The rest is just pure nonsense.

    James [p]en155? LOL...

Maxwell made Jordan uncomfortable because he was crazy. He pretty much made most people uneasy for the same reason. You just never knew what he might do next.

In head to head matchups during their career, Jordan averaged 30.6 on right at 50% shooting. Those are pretty good numbers but it is MJ that we are talking about.

most of the ppl who voted shane are probably just too young, and didn't see max every day like i and others did. he was an athletic freak, and hands down the best.

    Maxwell

That said, I appreciate what Battier brought to the table. His game, if we could somehow manipulate time, is exactly what this current Rockets team needs to neutralize KD and he would be great in our switch-heavy scheme.

Pippen, right? 1999? That piece of crap.

Beverly got the nod as a pt. guard more recently, I think.

I voted Mad Max because he got into Michael Jordan's [GOAT] head.

And then he went and asked for his autograph.

Individual defender? Probably maxwell. Team defender? Battier.

Loved it when we had Artest and Battier. It was the best of both worlds.

Battier is probably the best. Then Mbah a Moute, then Tucker....

If it's about clamping down on a star wing player in a specific one on one situation, there was few better than a motivated Mad Max. Also, Maxwell made the opponent work on the other side of the court, while Battier didn't.

Over an entire season, though, Battier is the better choice for me in that he contributed defensively in so many ways while playing elite individual and team defense from various positions. It was like having an assistant defensive coach out on the court. The No Stats All Star was also much more consistent and dependable than the volatile Maxwell.

On this current Rockets team, Battier would have been a superb 3 and D fit. Maxwell would have been a calculated risk.

Max defended guards, not wings, back when things were a bit different.

    Your poll is invalid.

Wait til yall see the block Harden gets in the finals this year. Then everybody will realize he is actually an elite NBA finals defender.

I think Battier is one of the most overrated rockets ever. He was a good team defender, I wouldn’t count on him to shut anyone down 1 on 1. He got lit up all the time. Quite frankly he was a big reason why Yao and Tmac never won anything. Dude utterly worthless on offense and mediocre at defense at best.

His one trait was he could guard Kobe cuz he studied all his moves, but anyone faster or more athletic would lit him up.

Chuck Hayes is not a reach. I mean what else was he on the court for. He could possible be the second best defensive player Rockets ever had behind Hakeem. That dude could guard anyone and no matter what size.
