So Melo summary from Woj: -will not play again in Houston -Melo didn’t want to leave Houston -Houston decision to pull plug -Dantoni doesn’t want to play him -still thinks Miami makes sense -might have to wait for teams to be able to trade or move end of roster guys
Yeah, it's tough watching the greats fade away. They'll have one brilliant game, where you'll see flashes of their past and think "he's back!!!" and then the next ten games are terrible. It's like the movie Awakenings.
100% grudge move. Also Jeff Bzdelik coming back confirms this. This move is being done outta spite not for basketball reasons
This was destined to fail from the begining. I am not sure what made the Rockets think they could fix something as broken as Carmelo. Now this looks horrible on everyone in the Rockets organization from TIlman, to Morey to Mike D. Carmelo is the least to blame in all this. We knew what we were getting.
Melo trying to drag the Rockets now. If he wanted to stay in Houston, he would stay in Houston. Morey loves Melo.
I hate all the weirdness around this crap. This was one of the issues I was concerned about, that somebody in the roster was going to stand out as a better player and that Melo was going to lose minutes and ultimately there would be a fall out. The whole, Melo wants to stay in Houston, is BS from Melo's camp since we know they are leaking to Woj. Melo just trying to save face but reality is that he doesn't want to be in Houston unless he is going to have a well defined role and get plenty of minutes, this is the real truth behind it. They don't fool me, but I know it will give the media more fuel to hate on us.
Woj doesn't normally get info from the Rockets. So everything he's said is probably from Melo's people.
This was definitely done for basketball reason. Yeah, Clark is not great offensively, but he is the kind of player that fits our scheme really well. Face it, Melo doesn't want a limited role, but Mike is the coach and thinks the Rockets are better with Melo having a limited role. I'm backing coach on this one.
3 franchises in a year have pretty much given Melo away. 4 if you count the Hawks. I though it was a foolish pickup, but tolerated it when it was for the minimum, low risk with potential reward. I'm glad we aren't f**king around and giving him PT just because of his name. He's a guy on a minimum contract and should be treated as such. And I don't buy for a second that Melo "wants to stay". I sure he wants to stay, but only if he's playing 30 minutes.
"Melo didn't want to leave Houston...but they refuse to start him so they're basically asking him to leave"
