I was sure there was going to be a link to an Onion-esque sports parody site to go along with these quotes.

OMG, Tyler White only has 5 years of control left????

Seriously? The lack of defense is a real factor, as is the fact that he's never done it over a full season, but the fact that he might be a Super 2 in 2020 isn't making him less valuable.

    7) It looks like Patrick Corbin vs. Dallas Keuchel for top free agent pitcher

It isn’t only Machado vs. Harper on this free agent market, there’s also a nice competition at the top of the starting pitching market, with Patrick Corbin and Dallas Keuchel likely duking it out for top honors. Keuchel’s had a better career to this point, but Corbin had the better year, so it should be interesting. The presence of the Yankees in the Corbin derby might help him. But Keuchel also is not the type to shy away from big markets, and could have interest in going to New York, L.A. or anyone else big after spending his life in a band of the Sun Belt. Keuchel had multiple chances to stay in Houston earlier but his switch to agent Scott Boras, and well-known admiration for Justin Verlander, has folks saying he will not shy away from a challenge and might prefer a move to a bigger stage.

    10) The player-agent shuffle has already made for fascinating movement

Some of the more interesting player movement has already happened, and it’s from agent to agent, not yet team to team. The Legacy company’s baseball arm seems to be disbanding as the federal government investigates alleged wrongdoing and its stock price plummets as potential buyers haven’t found the books up to the claims of the company. Legacy once was arguably the second biggest agency behind BorasCorp so this is quite a change. Longtime agents Brian Peters and Kenny Felder moved to Excel, which is led by Casey Close and now appears to be in the top two. Michael Brantley and A.J. Pollock went with them to Excel, and George Springer is looking around and may also go to Excel. So might be his teammate Carlos Correa. Brodie Scoffield left Legacy to set up his own shop with Alex Bregman, Kevin Gausman and many others going with him, as did Ed Cerullo and Steve Veltman, who were joined by Mookie Betts, Madison Bumgarner and others. Presumably, the Greenbergs, Peter and Ed, who used to be on their own anyway, will leave soon, too.

[DBacks] are considering everything, as expected, and that includes a trade of D-Backs icon Paul Goldschmidt. That will be a “very difficult” thing to do, GM Mike Hazen admits — he is that beloved in Arizona — but two rival GMs predicted that Goldschmidt will be dealt …

    Houston Astros

    — Houston is looking at DH and is interested in Nelson Cruz …

    — They are seen as a logical landing spot for J.T. Realmuto, who expects and (presumably) wants to be traded this winter, as he did last winter. His agent Jeff Berry predicted Realmuto would be traded this winter in an interview with Jim Duquette on MLB Network radio, and it sounded a lot like a desire of his, too. At the very least, the chances for a longterm deal with Miami seem to be nil …

    — Charlie Morton suggested he might like to play only one more year (or even retire after 2018) sometime early last year. But he is said to be looking for a multi-year deal. With the Astros having ready-made replacements like Colin McHugh and Brad Peacock plus star prospect Forrest Whitley, they may not win the bidding for Morton. While Morton thrived in Houston and really became a star there, is an East Coast guy. The Nats would be more convenient for him …

    — Marwin Gonzalez has a monster market, and someone connected to Gonzalez says his name comes up with practically every team.

    Zero hate for Tucker.

If we didn't lose 3/5 of our rotation I would say start him in LF. In fact, that is still likely to occur. However, I would be in favor of trading Tucker as a headliner for a stud pitcher like Kluber or Carrasco.

Several members here are infatuated with Realmuto. A few make unrealistic trade proposals that don't even match up to the offer that the Marlins already rejected (Victor Robles and Spencer Kieboom). Robles is a higher ranked outfield prospect than Tucker, and Robles produced in his limited time in the big leagues. So I strongly disagree when someone says Tyler White and Corbin Martin will get a trade done for Realmuto, and believe it would cost Tucker plus other prospects.

I don't see how saying Tucker would have to be included in a trade for the best catcher in baseball is hate towards him.

And obviously you haven't researched anything of what the Marlins want but from last year.....
Recent reports are they want the you promising SP and the young mlb ready postional player.

The demand on the highest prospect obviously went down alittle with the Realmuto talk of I Will not resign. And I want out.
They dont wanna trade him to the East.

So Tyler white who hit .300 avg and Corbin Martin would get this deal done

May I respectfully ask that you stop engaging in potential Realmuto talks? White and Martin is nowhere close for Realmuto, and in fact, as others have correctly pointed out to you, is rather laughable. But then you are doubling down on it, and making things way, way worse. This is an L, it happens, I've had plenty of L's here. I'd suggest moving on. Apparently 99.99% of the planet agree on that.

    Laughable.

So Tyler white isnt worth a thing?
Has no value and you should wanna build a team around what he could do?

Value is zero according to some of you.

Corbin Martin is worth maybe a penny more then White...

    A L?
    Are you serious?
This is the easiest thing to look at. Look at deals around the league in the last two years.
None really involve value especially when the Astros are envolved.
Last trade we lost was?????? Easy Hader trade. Bad for the stros but every trade after that who was on top?
If anyone can sell a player its Lunhow and company

Tyler White hit .300? Who was the Tyler White on the Astros who hit .276 then?

And, no, White and Martin will not acquire Realmuto. If that were the case, Luhnow would have already made that trade and probably thrown in a couple more prospects.

Here’s an off the wall trade idea: George Springer and Josh James for Corey Kluber and Yan Gomes. Astros get an ace and a starting catcher, Indians get a star OF and a good pitching prospect and save some money. Houston then signs AJ Pollock to a 3 year deal to replace Springer. It’s unlikely given both are AL teams and Springer’s popularity, but I think it’s a creative way to improve both teams.

Or they could just see what they have with James over a full season... and save a whole lot of money themselves for possible extensions.

Tyler White - well, the Tyler White of 2018 - has tremendous value. But not to a team like Miami. He's 28; you don't trade JT Realmuto for the privilege of making your MLB team *older.* White will likely no longer be in his prime by the time Miami is good again. What value does that bring? Nor do you trade a commodity as rare as a offensive-/defensive-minded catcher for a dime-a-dozen corner infielder; they can pick those up rather easily - case in point: Tyler White, who was a 33rd round pick.

There are 1, maybe 2 players in Realmuto's orbit; the drop-off after that, among catchers, is steep. That type of advantage carries a *tremendous* amount of value - and that's before you factor in his age and cost. He is arguably Miami's most prized commodity. He's not *better* than Yelich - but he's rarer. Marlins would be foolish to accept $.33 on the dollar, which is about where your trade idea lands.

The Astros potentially need a starter, and the Indians are listening to offers. Go after Tyler. *ducks*

"There’s no specific mention of righty Trevor Bauer, who emerged to take a place alongside his more-accomplished rotation mates. He’s just as plausible a candidate to be moved from an outside perspective, though, given that he’s down to two more years of arbitration control. Bauer is the most youthful of the three, but doesn’t figure to be an extension candidate given his stated preference never to agree to a multi-year deal. Still, he's projected to earn a bargain $11.6mm for 2019 with one more arb year to go thereafter."

This idea, this is terrible. This does not improve the Astros, especially in October. Springer has proven to be one of the great playoff hitters of this generation and you want to give that up? No no no! And Josh James has very high upside.

Surest way to kill the locker room would be to bring in Tyler. It's well known that Gerrit Cole cannot stand him.
