If he resigns it’s a slam dunk.

Probably not, but hes better than mcw and if you trade knight you need a backup in case of emergency. Definitely a good regular season guy tho

I want Jimmy, but this is tough to swallow. Mr. "I rep tomball, not Houston" potentially leaving us in 2019, and we'd owe first rounders up to 2025? That's nuts. All because we don't want to trade a 33 year old career journeyman in PJ Tucker. Unbelievable.

You don't make this deal unless you crunch all the numbers and show Tilman how much he'd have to pay luxury tax after paying Butler the max. Let's see if he really is willing to spend or he'd rather save money and screw the fans for the next half decade for a 1 year run in which we still would be heavy underdogs.

but you only get 2... and its the rookie scale contracts that can go a long way to putting multiple talents on the court wo blowing the cap and eating huge luxury tax bills - and then repeater taxes...
well... when u put it that way....

    lol

Let's just trade for Thibs too and then waive him, so he cant hold the deal up any longer.

It would almost certainly be an extend and trade, imo.

I don't think Tilman can afford it.

i think the fact that it won't be 1st rounders in consecutive years makes it easier to swallow.

It’s not like late first round picks are worth much. Who would we draft, the next Luther head, Sam dekker?

    great point here...
if u give up the 4 1sts - you also cant trade away the other 3... so basically, no 1st rounders to deal for the next 7 years... to obtain players - or to ditch a bad contract...

that is really the opposite of flexibility regarding picks as assets...

Yeah I think not a chance in hell they give up 4 picks if he's not secured BEFORE the trade ON PAPER. He's volatile and could screw us before the summer.

Plus there's always the lower tax thing that might help minimize the gap, as well as playing in a fairly big market on what would instantly become a super high coverage team.
