    If they are trading 4 m-fing 1st round picks with no significant trade protections with no locked in extension from Butler, then both Gordon and Tucker are staying. That's the only way I can see this.

    its more about the value of 1st round picks as an asset... to acquire players, to shuffle off a bad contract... giving up that load of assets for a 1 year rental is preposterous...

    This is what I was thinking. Initially Morey was hesitant to say the Rockets were better than last year, It was MDA who said it first. It was only after watching practices, Morey came out and definitively said the Rockets are better than last year. I trust Morey; I wait for his assessment to gauge my expectation for the coming season. I was kind of worried he didn't come out and give his feeling on this team. I was reassured when he finally said it.

    This move makes me think Morey was convinced into thinking the Rockets were better than they are by MDA, lol.

    4 picks is a lot.

    Absolutely. But you're also trading for the opportunity to have 3 franchise type players in their prime now vs. that flexibility. It's pretty obvious the Rockets are "all in" for right now. Nobody cares about being mediocre...the worst thing that can happen to a franchise.
