My understanding is that Chris Paul and Tucker are extremely close, so why is that not being mentioned as a potential reason for not trading Tucker? They aren't just friends, they're like brothers and CP recruited him, right? Why piss off Paul , especially for someone that might not work out ? Never made any sense .
Ego and a first should be enough IMO. Throw a second in there if need be but this is probably a one year rental at most so giving up both he and Tucker is not reasonable to me
Thibs will piss someone off another offer from miami and i see Taylor saying just take whatever Houston offers.
Morey wants as many USA team players as possible to match up against the Warriors, I don't think Tucker is a deal breaker.
It is not will you give up Tucker for Butler. It is will you give up Tucker AND Gordon for Butler. And there are probably already 4 threads with that exact same poll.
being willing to dish both PJ and EGo for Butler would be going all in for a 1 year shot a championship... It would increase our odds of winning this year - but then were screwed... bc we aint re-signing Butler for the max and we have no realistic way of replacing players of EGo and Pjs caliber the year after... I'd rather run it back - and have a 2-3 year window...
The tweet says PJ+EGo is not on the table. @Carl Herrera It’s a compound sentence. And the best part of the tweet is Minny contacted Houston. Morey isn’t going to leap to Final Offer when they are calling him.
I don't think getting Butler increases anything. PJ is role player, but has MANY roles that gives us the flexibility to match up against GS. We can match up by putting PJ at center, which is the secret to our success when playing them. You trade PJ and who plays Draymond? Who guards all 5 positions?
Honestly there are very few guys in the NBA that can do it. I struggle to think of 5 and PJ is one of them.
People don’t understand how rare defenders like Draymond and P.J. are. It’s one thing to be an elite post or perimeter defender, it’s another to be both. For example, Jimmy Butler is an elite perimeter defender, but he does not have the lower body strength to guard centers. It’s not a slight against him, but just a fact. That’s not even taking into account Draymond and P.J.’s toughness, strong work ethic, and all the little hustle plays they make. P.J. Tucker is the quintessential role player in today’s NBA, and every championship team needs someone like him. When you add in the fact he’s known CP3 from childhood, and is now tight with Harden, it’s a no brainer to keep him. Chemistry is something that gets better over time, and constantly making major changes to the ingredients is not a recipe for winning a championship.
