Just here checking in for potentially historic day. #Imminent#2yardline#inches#firsttimeusinghashtagsinhonorofpotentiallyhistoricday#pleasedontradeheartandsoulofteam
Ibaka + OG. I'm sure people can list the problems with that for one or the other team, but they CAN offer that as long as they understand it could mean a full non-optional rebuild this summer.
Ibaka is negative value as much as Anderson at this point, OG is good but he's not going to be a star so, that's not enough value to get Butler imo, OG would be basically what Toronto pays to dump Ibaka to the Wolves, and considering they have already Dieng, well... Maybe they can get in the mix if they can dump Ibaka to a third team with their 2021 1st rounder (which probably has to be unprotected) and Delon Wright but, not sure the Raptors can offer that pick, if Kawhi bolts they'll be forced to rebuild and that pick would be critical for them...all things considered i don't see them as a good trade partner at all, that of course might change if they decide to move Vala to a third team etc but, yeah....
Like I said, people can list reasons. Ibaka is terrible. Johnson is overpaid. Tucker is old. So on and so forth. Those are not complete, overall assessments. Overall, for the Wolves to come out of this with OG - a guy who projects to be a tremendous starter in this league for 10 more years - and have him under team control for at least 6 more years in a city that doesn't attract FA's.... that's a huge win. OG is a better asset than anything anyone else is offering. If that means tolerating Ibaka's contract for 2 years while their 3 core players (KAT/Wiggins/OG) are under 23, it's definitely worth it.
Yeah, I don’t agree. We’ll see if Toronto thinks differently. OG is fine, but not worth suffering that Ibaka deal
Playing with Harden and Paul would provide many more open shots that Butler is used to. He takes those shots. Also, when defenders scramble and run to him he can put the ball on the floor and go past them. That's always there in our offense but Ariza couldn't really take advantage of it. When he gets an obvious mismatch, he can go iso and take advantage. GS could always switch Curry on to Ariza and we couldn't really make them pay for that move the way that Butler could. It sounds overly simplistic but we would simply take what is there. Even if Butler is here, teams will still be forced to scheme their defense to stop Harden and CP3. That should leave plenty of opportunities for Butler. He can could do the same things he has always done but he wont have to work so hard to get them.
So if I'm understanding everything the Rockets are looking to give up Tucker and Gordon for Butler and then the Wolves are looking to dump Dieng on a team like the Kings for something like Koufos and some salary relief and there's picks thrown around? And the Rockets are doing this for a rental of Butler?
