swapping knight for a lower priced contract will hurt their ability to find a rotation worthy 3&D forward.

knight's $14M is in the perfect range to be traded for johnson, bazemore, marvin, carroll, lee, shumpert, etc...

I thought it was just too coincidental that the trade went down on 8/31 (the last day to stretch) that the Rockets were going to stretch Knight and save a lot of luxury tax $$. The fact that they didn't is very encouraging that Tilman is not scared of the luxury tax and wants to win now.

Not sure we can get much back on value with Knight's post surgery performance in question. At best he'll be able to be rotated through the small ball line up. Tell you what though, we're definitely going all in on offense this season!

We’re going to look back on this Harden/Morey era as what could have been, if Morey wasn’t ordered to save money.

But at least every individual trade will maximize Morey’s brilliance of CBA knowledge and financial management, so we won’t get bored talking about why the moves make sense

I would like to see us trade Melo for Ariza and Anderson - two very nice looking veterans with the Suns who could fit in nicely on this squad.

Luxury Tax profit? LOL... I think Tillman should go down to the hard cap on luxury tax. I mean after all OP, he owes you everything. TBH I can't stand the fact he is trying to make money off the team. He should be ashamed of himself after all that you have done for him OP.

To date, no evidence of that. The 'savings' included an increased MLE pot for buy-out time.

I am not homering, definitely not no way nohow, TF just looking at 1st year history and not not not seeing what you are espousing.

I feel pretty good with all I read from Phx’s coach from an article this summer about Knight and how not only did he recover from the ACL but recovered his positive attitude and confidence, drive, etc. It’s bizarre too me how PHX is going all in adding Ariza & Ryno too a good young group of talent and the coach named Knight the starter at the summer league and then they deal him off and create a bunch of unknowns at PG.

Rockets could have gotten Bazemore if they were willing too include Melton in the deal, which they were not. And I value Knight & Chriss > Bazemore. Rockets majorly upgraded the reserve PG & C positions (with two years of control on both guys) when they NEED IT NOW. Melton & Hartenstein may become quality contributors but there’s still development.

I’m not sold on Bazemore or any name being an upgrade of what I think Ennis will provide in this offense (one of the very best players in transition, in the entire league) solid 3 pt shooting and his D is his best attribute

We would be screwed so much worse right now if not for Morey. He has definitely been told to cut costs, but he is doing a great job of not ending this contention window.

If we don't get someone who can irritate Durant though it's all going to be pointless and expensive.

I actually think the Rockets got very solid value in the Anderson trade. Chriss may not be worthy of being drafted so high, but the dude has a prototypical body for a big man in the modern NBA. His flaws can be masked playing with two of the best offensive players of all time. If he can just grasp our defensive scheme to a decent extent, his athleticism can help offset the mistakes on D he is sure to make. Knight is the wild card here but if he can return to form, he will be a fantastic offensive weapon who can actually handle the ball.
